944 Swede Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Will this be the first points race for So Cal? How many races will count for the championship? Quote

Tim Comeau Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Yeah, baby! Rob, wear some "AUTO GALLERY" decals! Quote
Utah944 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I may be making the tow out to So Cal. My friend is putting his corvette together and we are hoping to make the 3/10 Thunderhill weekend but if he does not have his new motor in by then our plan to head to so cal on the 17th. So mark me as tenative for the race. Quote
genikz Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I'll be there for HPDE. See you guys there! Quote
Packfill Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 If I can get to my car... I will come and race CUP!!! Quote
mfoley Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Not me. I have too many Cal Speedway events on my schedule already. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 I'll be there. Hopefully, I'll be able to drag a few 944 newbies with me from San Diego. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 So, here's the list so far: Harold Dunn AZ Jonathan Ariano AZ Glenn Gormley AZ Norman Hamden AZ Timothy Comeau SoCal Mickey Dowling AZ Chris Barrington SoCal Robert SoCal HPDE Raffi SoCal HPDE Todd from Utah tentative? There should be some brand new faces there as well from the San Diego area. Quote
Tom #16 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I'm in. NASA's prices have gone up. I know this track is more expensive than the others, but almost $400? Owch. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Wow more Az guys than so-cal guys. Hey maybe we Arizona folks just need to call Cal Speedway one of OUR HOME TRACKS... Quote
944 Swede Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Hey maybe we Arizona folks just need to call Cal Speedway one of OUR HOME TRACKS... You're only allowed to call it your home track if you set a track record... Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Hey maybe we Arizona folks just need to call Cal Speedway one of OUR HOME TRACKS... You're only allowed to call it your home track if you set a track record... Hmm I see some fast Az guys on that list.... You know we just may pull that off... Do you have plans to defend the so-cal honor or are you leaving that to Tim? Quote
944 Swede Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 [i] Do you have plans to defend the so-cal honor or are you leaving that to Tim? Honor....Tim....in the same sentence, must be my English, not quite sure I understand... I'll be there, looking forward to a great weekend with some fun racing Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted March 8, 2007 National Staff Posted March 8, 2007 I'm in. NASA's prices have gone up. I know this track is more expensive than the others, but almost $400? Owch. If I remember correctly, it is the same price as last year. Cal Speedway is always more expensive than our other events because of the track rental costs, their safety and medical crew, etc. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'll be there, looking forward to a great weekend with some fun racing That is exactly the response I was looking for! Sad to say I will not be making the trip. I could not make it work out this year. I am looking toward Willow this August. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Jim Richmond has registered as well, so add him and Tom Spargo to the party. Hope Jim Marks can run it in Cup as well. We'll have a good time racing... Quote
Packfill Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I will not be racing.... but my car is exactly as it was last year... That makes me elgible for Spec until June, correct? Did any of the rule changes become effective immediately?? Quote
Tim Comeau Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 The rules changes affecting headers and chips were given a grace period for compliance until June 1, 2007. The open rule that formerly allowed lightweight pressure plates has been closed effective immediately. If any drivers don't wish to make their 944's comply to the new tighter spec rules, and everyone is ok with that, please come race in the 944 Cup class for fun. We'll all be on the track at the same time. There's room in NASA for different 944 prep levels. No one is being excluded. Just don't let your 944 Cup car be beaten by a harmless little 944 spec car.... We'll have some good fun racing. Quote
topley Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 OK, so it looks like my schedule is free enough for Fri/Sat. I need an annual inspection, Can I get that Friday at the track? -jay Quote
944 Swede Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Jay, NASA officials told me Tech station will be open from 9am to 6pm on Friday. Quote
Packfill Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 No one is being excluded. Just don't let your 944 Cup car be beaten by a harmless little 944 spec car.... This is too humorous for words... Quote
Tim Comeau Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Parking at Cal spedway. OK. LET'S GATHER UP OUR 10-12 CARS IN THE PADDOCK. I know Ariano is in garage # 98 in the last building, G1. Do other people already have garages? Anybody else locked in to a spot because of friends or RV's? I'm trying to gather us up in one general spot. Quote
