berny2435 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Ladies and Gents! This community seems like it has a great wealth of knowledge and the only other place I've gotten information from about my car's setup is Honda-tech THE Question? What tires should I run this year? My background I have 5 Days HPDE experience on Street Tires. 205/45/16 Hankook RS2 Z212s. there is still plenty of tread left to go to the track and back but I will soon need new tires. 4 days at HPT, 1 day in rain/cold too 1 day at MAM - open track in car bymyself The car 95 Honda civic K20a2 6spd swap - 207whp dyno tuned 2480 lb with driver and full tank soon to be caged and have racing seats modded suspension I have shaved/used Hankook Z211 that have about 2/32 left untill they reach the bottom of the wear indicators. I've heard some experienced people say that I should hold off on running R compounds. I wanna hear some more information from this forum. Tires sizes I will concider = 15" 205-225s, 16" 205-225s I've been eyeing the idea of 215/45/16 Falken RT615s and using them for both HPDE and AutoX ??? Should I run R comps before and during the FAAST racing school or other approved racing school? Quote
BrianZ Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I have been running R comps from day one at the track. I have used street tires when I damaged a R comp and it completely changes how the car handles. I think the first question it do you plan on racing and if you do what serise to you plan on racing with. Do they require a spec tire? personaly I like the RA1's. I run 225/50/15 on my Integra. Quote

I've read about the Full tread vs shaved approach for rookies. Do you think I should still shave the tire before my 1st HPDE? What do you think I should run for camber? 3 front, 2 rear? Quote
