V8cobra99 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 The clock is ticking down.... 22 days until we hit the high speeds of California Speedway for the West region season opener... Get registered!! In the AI class - Keith "burnt-marshmellow" Parker tested at Willow Springs in his rebuilt car, sporting a new fast engine and new suspension, running fast 1.31.xx lap times... Partick Lindsey did not have his car at Willow Springs, however reported his car was under development, and no doubt will be lightning fast. Vageli Karas did some testing at Infineon Raceway and rumors of his new rocket fast car put up the notice of no-prisnoners, however, he may have to team up with Mike Armstrong once again as the new car may or may not appear at CalSpeedway.... Ryan Walton was also at Willow Springs, as an instructor, getting valuable seat time, and reported his car is good to go... Maybe the "Champion To Be" will seal the deal in 2007?? Ironman Bryan MacMillan has been quite so far... yet will surely be a force throughout the 2007 championship season. The Iceman, Gary Umphenour reported his car is getting a few new fast bolt-ons from his buddies at Griggs Racing... the 2005 and 2006 AI West Champion, however, has not committed to a full season in 2007, but I suspect the Iceman may attempt a three-peat. In AIX, Corey Weber and his team Agent47 are deep in the middle of heavy car development, with serious suspension and engine improvements. As well, AIX Champs Team Witherow is rumored with their re-birth super no-expense-spared AIX SN95 chasis car, built with the assistance of Griggs Racing. Paul Brown, Ernesto Roco and Dave "The Hulk" Martis will all have new battles in AIX.... Who will survive in 2007? Andy Bowman Director, AI West Quote
pederb Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 How about your self Andy? Ready to go for the 2007 championship Quote
z28racergirl Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 What the hell, am I chopped liver or something? I'm registered for Cal Speedway. Or maybe Camaros don't count in the American Iron Mustang Racing class. Christine Quote
pederb Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Christine, I'm not sure that Andy has access to the entry list yet, but he did forget you in his write up. Quote
V8cobra99 Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 I just drafted that message quickly to remind all to get registered.... I did not mention Hal, or Dean, and a few other guys either, so... no real intention to leave anyone out.... In fact, I fear those big Chevy motors at CalSpeed with their monster power..... For my own self, I will be sporting a new improved cage (should make Ernesto happy). All else is exactly the same from the last races in November (which by the way I won... ha...... ) To my knowledge, the other fast Chevy of Mike "Texas" Patterson will not be prepared by Cal Speed..... that is one rocket we wont have to worry about...... Andy Quote
z28racergirl Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I understood it as "get registered, here's who's going to be there, you don't want to miss this party" as if you'd read a listing from registration. Many others in NASA So/Nor Cal confuse me with running in CMC (although I never have) so I thought not being listed with other AI people might have stemmed from that. AI all the time! See you guys there. Hopefully no rain/snow like last year. Christine Quote
trackboss Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 We all fear chevy power. There might even be one mounted in a ford. Quote
z28racergirl Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Oh good G*d! Or maybe, Oh the humanity! Quote
V8cobra99 Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Peder - full proper improved cage now.... Thanks to Corey Weber and AGENT47..... I tried to get him just add a few weld in tabs on the cage, and he and his team ended up ripping the cage out for a proper cage. Something about my safety, I guess..... or he just has a secret love for me...... DOH!!!!! andy Quote
V8cobra99 Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 He is 100% focused on getting it ready, its going to be close...... andy Quote
Pat L. Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Andy, Peder: I won't know my plans until days before so I will be very late to sign up. Quote
pederb Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 (edited) Pat, we are counting on you, so don't let us down You can sign up anyway, Ryan will refund you if you do DNS by doing this it's easier on timing & scoring and other admin sections of the race. Edited March 2, 2007 by Guest Quote
V8cobra99 Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 It's okay if you dont show up Pat.... really.... if you are not there, I might actually finish on the podium.... so take extra time to finish the car, really..... Quote
z28racergirl Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Pat, please make it, if for nothing else than to kick Andy's arse? Please? (not making myself very popular in the garage am I?) Christine "Dude, where's my car?" Knight Quote
V8cobra99 Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 Hal Massey has sure been quite.... hmmm.... I know for a fact Hal purchased a few more light weight CF toys at the end of last season, and turned up the heat. At the end of last season also, we have another bow-tie Chevy join the fight, Ken Leslie. Paul McKee?? Was at CS last year in his Bondurant SN95 orange Mustang. Dean Jones last told me that he planned some upgrades in the off season in his Fox Mustang.... And Derick Thew was to commit to some improvements getting ready for 2007... The interesting news however, is Julio Mayen has registered for AI. Julio Mayen is a partner with JMC Motorsports (Dave Turner Motorsports) in San Diego. And those guys know engines and suspensions. If Julio is up to speed, we can expect that car to be in the front fighting. Talking with John at JMC from time to time, the car has been in some development over the past 3 years. And they actually have 3 cars in the chamber... AND, I even heard a nasty rumor, that Mr. Paul Brown may drive / race the car ??????????? Just great..... more news to follow...... andy Quote
fiveohdean Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Dean Jones last told me that he planned some upgrades in the off season in his Fox Mustang Spent most of my budget on a new rear end, the old one didn't survive the last race at BW. Fender flares and 275's are the only other changes to the car. CS is a bit iffy right now, waiting for UPS to deliver a couple of parts I need. Hopefully they will make it in time. Dean Quote
Pat L. Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Pat, please make it, if for nothing else than to kick Andy's arse? Please? (not making myself very popular in the garage am I?) Christine "Dude, where's my car?" Knight Wow, glad I'm not gonna be in the garage I got my arse signed up... whether or not I'll have anything for Andy is to be seen; he was FAST at Infineon and I'm sure he's been brewing some top secret sauce for the '07 season. Actually I am getting the impression a lot of people are bringing bazookas to the gunfight this year Quote
z28racergirl Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Did you guys all know that Jason is having Greg do his physical at Cal Speedway? Then he'll submit his paperwork and fee and come racing in #29 with us all, later in the season! Christine (bringing the bazooms, not the bazooka) Quote
Pat L. Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Did you guys all know that Jason is having Greg do his physical at Cal Speedway? Then he'll submit his paperwork and fee and come racing in #29 with us all, later in the season! Christine (bringing the bazooms, not the bazooka) LMAO @ Bazooms. I'll bet Jason is super excited! Will there be any spousal competition? That could get exciting Quote
V8cobra99 Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 The only spouse competition I know of is fighting for the checkbook to go racing...... DOH!!!!! I spoke to Gary Umphenour this morning... the Champ will not be joining us at Calspeed next weekend, but did say he would be joining us at Infineon in April to cause some trouble.... And I spoke to Bill Daffron, that reported he and Ross Murray will be racing hard next weekend, fighting against Corey and the Witherow's. Bill and Ross have been developing the new SN95 chassis car which appeared at Buttonwillow last year for test and tuning. The Veteran Team Daffron are going to be the team to beat for the season opener in AIX..... Andy Quote
z28racergirl Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Spousal competition: You know, as long as SOMEONE gets #29 to the front, I don't give a damn who is driving it! Well, there is a short list of folks that will NEVER drive it, but that's another matter. I hope it will turn into a situation much like I've seen with couples serious with autocrossing where good communication and a shared experience makes for a tough team to beat. I taught him to ride a motorcycle too. Quote
