getfast Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I'm planning to see what I can do in TTD with the M3, and possibly borrow a buddy's 240SX for some fun in TTE also. Jon Quote
BlackStripes Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I will be there but only in AI capacity. Is this you? Quote
kbrew8991 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 thats the car (and fwiw, I got pwned by an E30 in TTF, time to spend those last points...) Quote
BlackStripes Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Oh.... I had a room in the paddock and I had to walk next to your garage everytime i went to my room ...that thing looks awesome!!! I have a couple of questions, i have a yellow GT with the same hood (03 Cobra hood) and with an IRS as well... I think i want to do time trial at certain point next year.. but the damn car is so heavy, it's not even funny!! I think i can get rid of 100 or so and still be an street car, which is the main goal here. Can i ask you how much your car weighs? I know it might not be a piece of information that you want to share, and i understand that, but if are willing to share, i'd appreciate it Quote
Red Tornado Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 With me in it and totally empty it's right at 3,340lbs. It could lose some more pounds easy but I am already to close to the limit for my class and will likely add 40lbs of ballast to be safe. My guess is 3,100lbs is easily doable with some lexan and some lightening. My hood must weigh 40lbs at least. Quote

My car is 3500+lbs, and as it sits is in TTU. I ran a couple of numbers and i can loose 200lbs AND up the power extra 150HP and still be in TTU.. damn, that class is for very nasty cars! I guess i am not gonna be too concern about the weight, since i want this car to be street legal. Just doesnt help the fact that i have coolers, braces, extra fluid and a 6 point rollbar. I can easy loose 100lbs easy and go for more power easily, but i dont think i am going to do that for a long time. I run VIR-Full 2:17'ish on summer tires... so 2:10's wouldnt be too far off on r-compunds... but beat the 2:07 that the Viper ran will be a little tough. Other question, i am really thinking going for the Cobra R setup, by any chance do you know how much downforce the wing and splitter make at 100+mph or so? thanks again!!! Quote
Red Tornado Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 The guys who had my car and raced in grand am were ford engineers and tested the cobra r aero. supposedly its nearly as good as the full tilt expensive stuff (within a tenth or two a lap). I defintely notice it on the high speed turns. I would drop some serious weight off the front if I were you. Get the balance closer to 50/50 would probably help a ton. Basics like a lighter hood, max motorsports k-member, etc.. can drop 100 off the nose I bet. Seperate note summer tires to r compund should improve alot on times but 7 seconds. not unless you had horrible old tires full tread on there and even then that is a lot from just tires. 2:07's and under are very possible just plan accordingly so you dont nickel and dime to death. Go to Steeda from the start and get a nice overall setup that you can still drive on street and this will help a ton. Quote
BlackStripes Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Thank you very much for the advice and the info!! i will take them in consideration!! I was assuming 4-5 sec on tires... I know i have 2 sec's on driver and alignment. I was running -1.8 front camber on 10K miles front tires. I really want to go to VIR full again this year with another alignment, but i am not sure. In this video you can tell how my tires were really mad at me ...still a lot of fun : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3322985081803627810&hl=en thanks again! Quote
Red Tornado Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Where did you get the photo from by the way?? I need to send some to my sponsors and this was a good picture. Quote
