mikeski38
We were wondering how many TT guys would be interested in custom bolt in roll cages for your TT cars. These cages will have the pefect custom fitment as our weld in race cages do , but will be a modular construction to avoid invasive modifications to your street cars. They will be tig welded and powercoated and the bolted joints will be flush, no large hardware or ugly clevis joints. Basically these cages will be functional cages will show quality craftsmanship and finish. They will cost around $3000 depending on the car. Any interest? NorrFam
No offense but at that price point dont expect many takers.
1LapSRT
My fully custom, non-invasive cage with a show quality finish was half of your price.... Sorry !
kbrew8991
I may not be your target market anyway, but as a guy who has <$6k in his TT car, I wouldn't even consider it at that price even after guinea pig discount Don't most shops charge ~$200ish per point? mikeski38
Don't be upset at the price, that is simply what the price would it have to be to make it make sense to build. This is why I'm asking if the TT community will want to pay this much for a cage. There will be significantly more into this cage then a typical custom welded in race car cage. We appreciate the feedback. These cages will not be cost effective for an inexpencive track toy, this product will focus on track day and TT'ers with very expencive cars who need additional safety without heavy perminent modifications to their car. For price comparison, our custom welded NASA/SCCA minimum requirement cages cost $1800.
max1os
I would like to through in my cent-n-a-half. I have one of Calculated Risk's weld in cages in my 3rd gen RX-7. As a matter of fact, I just ran with it for the first time at T-Hill weekend before last. Their craftsmanship is top notch, from the cage proper to their ability to do a "showroom stock" style cage, which is to say, I retained my ENTIRE interior and it looks GREAT. I have been around racing for years. Where anyone gets the Idea that any cage of TOP quality is anything less than what they are proposing is simply wrong. I have had and seen bolt in cages from most of the usual suspects. None in my opinion would compare to the Lock boy's capabilities. That being said, before anyone is ready to dismiss them on price, maybe a look at their work would be in order. They have several cars that show up at NORCL events. kbrew8991
not knocking their work at all, just saying they're out of my league on price point....
Members Shawn M.
Not really interested in a show quality cage. Im just interested in one that will save my life if I just happen roll my car. Something to consider offering people. I also think the price is a tad steep. Most people can pay about 1/3 of that for a bolt in Autopower cage. NorrFam
While its out of my range too, your offer might be helped by pic or pics of how your unit is different. I would like to keep my interior intact as well but cannot imagine how Im going to get two or more points through my backseat and inner panels without a hole of somekind. Whether cut, drilled or molded.
