RodeoFlyer Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I'm not understanding why the whole heat thing is an issue for you with a brand new S197? I don't know how in the hell you could wrap the factory cast-iron headers in the first place. Quote
jon dawes Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 hey rodeo, i thought i recognized you from somewhere! i've seen you on the other forums. . . here's the deal: i'm extremely sensitive to heat. i know, it's unmanly and all that, but heat BOTHERS me. and i've got the bassani high flow cats on there, if that makes a difference. maybe they run hotter. dunno. i think i'm just going to use koolmat or whatever product's the cheapest and maybe the lightest and put it under the driver's seat and along the side of it. it gets very hot and makes me uncomfortable on long drives. that's really about all! part of it is that i just like to test the waters and see what's out there. sometimes i just post stuff to see what people are doing. i like to hear what ideas people have, what's worked, what's not worked. u going to hyperfest? Renntag Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 looks like i talked her into it!!! not too keen on camping, so we'll be looking for a hotel or something close by. Glad to hear. IF you expect to get a room, better get on it now. Rooms close by I believe are booked. There is a thread in the Mid-Atlantic Forum with hotel info. Get a room booked now or you might not get one easily. i'm signing up for a hyperdrive for $40 just to get my toe wet, and a ride along with a pro driver for $10. Good deal. i'm most interested in meeting the HPDE crowd and feeling out the way things work! You "MIGHT" be able to sit quietly in the back of the classroom to check that out as well. should i request you or getfast for the ride along or the hyperdrive???? I am not sure what our duties will be. I know I will have an HPDE2 student plus I am racing in Thunder Group. I worked the Hyperdrives at CMP. I doubt they want me to take on any other responsibility if I am racing as well...Be sure to come hang out with us. Quote
RodeoFlyer Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 maybe it is your cats putting off more heat. I haven't had a problem. Quote
Frank Corkran Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 it gets very hot and makes me uncomfortable on long drives. Open your owners manual and find the section on how to operate the A/C controls. That should fix you right up. Aren't the HyperDrives on the JC handled by BSR? If anyone should know that it's you Collin. 'Course I haven't heard anything about it yet from E either. Quote
Renntag Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Aren't the HyperDrives ...handled by BSR?....haven't heard anything... from E... you may be right. I am typically so wrapped up in racing and HPDE that I dont have time to help with Hyperdrives. Hyperfest 06 I had to be best man at my brother's wedding. I couldn't get a last minute fill in, so I had to go. That was the ONLY Mid-Atlantic event I missed last year. Quote
jon dawes Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 maybe it is your cats putting off more heat. I haven't had a problem. i also think that it's because most of my driving is sitting in traffic in DC. i went on a road trip this weekend and it was fine. thanks for the input. Quote
