Argent Lab is pleased to announce that they will be providing the 944 Challenge with an Information Broadcast for our race sessions during this 2007 running of the NASA National Championships. The goal of the broadcast is to offer the driver additional information pertaining to track conditions. The broadcast is similar to having a crew chief but they will be providing you with 3 on-track spotters and 1 person in race control to relay details as needed.

The On-Track Information Broadcast is to be understood as a secondary means to relay miscellaneous information to the driver. The flag system is and will remain the primary means of on-track communication and it is the responsibility of the driver to see and respond to flags appropriately. Monitoring the broadcast does not relieve the driver of any responsibility to be aware of his surroundings and current flag conditions. They try to keep messages short and useful to the drivers. Example: "Spin driver’s right… turn 6" repeat “Spin driver’s right… turn 6â€

From the lap times and the talk, this was the best racing the Series has seen in its 6 years of existence. We had one of the larger fields at Nationals, the lap times were incredibly close, and after 4 days of intense racing, we had only one minor metal to metal incident that had no impact on the outcome of the week.

All this makes be very proud to be a part of the Series and the exceptional group of racers that particpated in Nationals this year.

The Speedcast web link of the 944 Cup race should be available within a few weeks and a DVD to follow. In adition to trackside cameras, Karl Troy, Stephen Laputka, Evan Brumm, and Steve Randolph had Speedcast cameras mounted on their roofs. We should have some great footage.

Thanks to Apex Performance for assisting us paying for the Cup Tent. This year's location was excellant as we could view the grid from our cars and easily roll out for sessions just when we needed to. And clearly the best girl watching vantage point in the paddock for those looking to kill some time.

Apex Performance also paid for lunches. Thanks to Track Day Motorsports and Steinels Autowerks who hosted after race parties for us on Friday and Saturday. This all went a long way to making Nationals a great event.

Use of the Mid Ohio scales made Impound painless as they rolled cars thru without delay, and BackStreet Dyno was incredible in getting cars off and on the dyno quickly and without concern.

The race group we where placed in by NASA was easily the best we have ever had with NASA at Nationals or any Regional events. It was 75% Cup cars, going a long way to make for great racing.

Congrats again to the 2007 Nationals Champs, Jersey Joe Hrymack and Karl Troy, both very deserving and super representatives for our Series.

Of interest to me was how well Hankooks performed at the high level of competition. I believe 2nd, 3rd, and 4th were all using Hankooks. Also of note was how competitive the mighlty little 944S of Steve Katz was during the entire week with a second in the Championship race, being almost a 100 lbs overweight and the lowest HP car in Super Cup. Also of note was the fine showing by the the 2 Spec drivers turning in a 4th and 5th place finish in the Cup Championship.

Thanks to Jersey Joe, who shuttled me around for the week when my truck transmission went out upon arrival to the track on Tuesday.

Now on to deciding the Regional Championships.

NASA reported today that the 2nd Annual NASA National Championships presented had 425 competitors from 32 states and 2 Canadian provinces converged on the storied Mid-Ohio for three days of intense competition that crowned 39 National Champions across NASA's racing and time trial programs.

The competitors ranged in age from 15 to 75 and competed in many different marques of racecars with Mazda being the best represented brand.

Not surprising was that the state with the highest representation of racers was Ohio. A surprise was that Ohio was followed by California.

Here is some footage from Sundays Championship Race from the vantage point of the 3rd place finisher.

After running well all week, he just about throwz it all away coming into Madness. Somehow hung on and only let one car sneak by. The race picks up at the start of the race with him on the front row with the Super Cup cars off in the distance.

He had a few other OH SH** moments but hang on to battle hard the last couple of laps. The video is in two parts.

Will also be made available in a higher quality DVD format very soon.

Very nice! Thanks to Apex for making this possible.

Dave, you got promoted to SuperCup for a while in that race, and Bill Comat's car morphed from blue to silver, and back again . Overall nicely done, with some great in car shots from Evan!

Awesome! Too bad for Joe that he ran off and hid as the next few cars all got more coverage....but not the Championship! Eric, I was wondering if I was actually driving two cars. You know what they say about publicity. Any kind is good. Great video. I definitely want a DVD when they are available.

Eric: Didn't realize you had climbed up to a half a car length from 2nd place with a lap or so to go. You had a hellava race, and with no LSD. Super drive.

And the Comat brothers seemed to be everywhere.

Thanks. Evan made an incredible last lap charge while Chris & I were scrapping, and made an equally awesome pass where we were mirror to mirror for from entry into the Keyhole into Madness. Only part of this got caught on video. Evan outbraked me on the *outside* two corners in a row - good stuff, and a deserving podium finish.

I joked with Evan before the race when he got the Speedvision camera that he'd get some good film of me with that camera [as I passed him]. I was right, but Evan prevailed in the end. This needs to go on the Cup highlight reel, Dave.
