Welt sway bar & steel a-arms

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I have a Weltmeister front sway bar from a prior car with drop links for an alloy a-arms. I want to put it in a car with steel a-arms.

Any suggestion on how to attach/adapt the drop link to the steel a-arms? Any pictures would be helpful!

Cheers,

Henry

you need different mounting hardware. It is unique to the steel arms where it meets the arms.

Hey Joe,

Yes, I understand I need a different type of drop link attachment for the steel a-arm.

Do I just buy the unique steel a-arm connector from a Welt-distributor?

Or is there an easy way to modify the aluminim a-arm connector or to fabricate an adaptor to make the aluminum a-arm drop link work with a steel a-arm?

Could someone show me a picture of the front Welt sway bar drop link on a steel a-arm?

There is a moulded plastic piece that is used to conform to the shape of the control arm where you drill a hole in the arm mount the bar. These supports are needed to distribute the load more evenly on the arm So it is really best just to buy the end hardware.

I'm with Joe.

The drop links are identical but the base brackets, plastic guides and their metal supports are different. Order those pieces only, but make sure you get all the hardware, especially the slider clamp nuts.

Thanks for the picture.

What is the torque spec for the bolt going thru the steel a-arm?

Not sure. I just made it tight, but not super tight.
