Chuck T. Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 OUCH ! growing pains ! I should have waited till I sorted out my new car before I sold the old one to Eric ! So my car just limped enough to be counted as there. While David Dirks Stole the show ! Friday afternoon We had 5 cars ready to do battle by Friday night We were down to just 4. Doug Grande finished building his car at the track but then when He went to put it to bed in the trailer it "died" after a few hours of trouble shooting, We all could not solve the problem. He promises to be back and is in it for the long haul ! Then Saturday in the first warm up session My new 1988 924S overheated I was able to have a team driver limp it around for 4th place finishes on Saturday and Sunday! I have a little more work to do on the car but Family comes first. So that left David Dirks ( "TB" ) with a near fully built car (a bit over weight still) racing agianst Chris V (Goddess) . and Weston P ("Spiny Mc SpinsALOT") . in there near stock cars. Saturdays race was more of a show than a race as David went from 1st to last a couple of times. during a restart Weston passed the entire field ! see video. Chris was able to get by Weston after a spin (one of many). final results 1st David 2nd Chris 3rd Weston 4th Chuck (team allstar). Sunday We did a combined race with big bore and it was super Fun ! David did battle with a Spec Miata for the entire time and finished within a car length of each other ! Weston has some great video http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=977 of his Saturday pass on the fly. and helping me out with some AI cars. Chris had a issue and parked early and agian my car limped just enough to count for points. Dirks 1st Weston 2nd Chris 3rd Chuck (allstar racing) 4th. So congrats To David Dirks for a pair of firsts ! And to Doug Grande for not being mad about his bum luck. We had a great time ! Chuck Quote
Utah944 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Get those cars running for Pueblo. As it stands now I am planning to head out and race and let a friend drive my car in hpde 1 (passing the crack pipe). I am hoping some of the AZ guys will be there are well. Quote
Sterling Doc Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Nice video. Looks like fun! It looks like you guys are steet racing out in desert back roads. You guys will be spoiled by MAM - it's really wide, with lots of opportunites for passing, and technical corner combos. I bet MMP is similar that way. 3 weeks & counting Don't forget you right sided head restraints (I've still got to order mine). Quote
Weston Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 It was a great weekend, although Sunday was a bit frustrating with all the spinning. I'm thinking that sometime around the middle of Saturday's main race is when I lost my front sway bar. I went out there with just front Konis and a front 26.8mm sway bar on otherwise stock suspension, so I'm just happy that I was able to somewhat keep up before I developed that problem. I'll have a little more suspension for Pueblo... it still wont be fully built, but I plan to give Chris something to worry about. Now we just need to put new rod bearings in Chris' car, get him a tire to replace the corded one, fix Doug's car (fuel pump? filter?), and swap a motor in Chuck's car... Sounds like we don't even need to start working until the Thursday night before the race weekend. BTW: Chuck, if you get me those .asf files from your camera, I'll see if I can convert them to .wmv and mix them with my video... Quote
Weston Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Don't forget you right sided head restraints (I've still got to order mine). What's the cheapest right-side net that you guys have found? The impression I got from talking to people this weekend was that we really won't need much to satisfy the rule, and there was some doubt about it serving much of a purpose anyway. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Hey sounds fun. I was up in your neck of the woods this past Friday. Dropped off a car in Glenwood Springs to the new owner who was towing it the rest of the way up to Minnesota. I only had time to drop it off, fuel up and get back underway to San Diego. Made pretty good time, though. Left Glenwood Springs at 8:45am and got home to San Diego around 11:30pm. So maybe the race tracks up there are only one loooooong tow day from San Diego? Quote

Let's see a big 944 field. Chuck and I are planning on a great deal for the 944Spec cars. We'll make it attractive $$$ to help with tow fuel costs. Now that Tim knows we are less than a days drive ( ), I want to see California cars too. If you went the southern route (I40), Pueblo isn't really any further the Glenwood (but nowhere as pretty). Tim Comeau Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Not as pretty, huh? Too bad...... There were some really awesome vistas. Quote
bpanther Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Not as pretty, huh? Too bad......There were some really awesome vistas. Not to hijack Chuck's thread (he's done it more than once to me to promote 944 )... but did you actually make it into the canyon, or did you just do the swap in Glenwood? Quote
Weston Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I got ahold of Chuck's videos and combined them with my own, so there's some new and updated video in the NASA RM thread: http://www.nasarockymountain.com/nasa_forums/showthread.php?t=977 Quote
Tim Comeau Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Weston, Weston, Weston......... I could see you were defending just before you spun. Looked like you just pinched that right hander a bit much. It must have felt good to get by the white 924S while he was sitting in the dust.......and just as bad to give the position back! Looks like a simple track with some good kinks. Quote
