DC88GT Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I'm doing some upgrades on a brand new (never fired) 345hp "B" cam crate motor. I'm replacing the factory crank dampener on the new motor with a Motorsport SFI rated one off of the expired 5.0. I've got a puller/installer, so aside from that is there anything special to keep in mind when installing it? Also, I'm replacing the factory oil shaft/pump/pan with new Motorsports HD shaft/HV pump and a Canton 7qt Road Race baffled pan. I picked up the Canton-recommended 4 piece gasket set, but once again anything out of the ordinary to look for when replacing these parts? Thanks! Quote
Frank Corkran Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I can tell you that when I installed the Canton pan, pickup and windage tray that were supposed to be go used together onto my 351W I had to clearance mounting holes and use some hardened washers as shims to get the tray to fit, plus I had to tweak the pickup tube and cut off and re-weld the tube support tab to make it all fit together properly. Don't forget to measure the pickup-to-pan bottom distance as well, that required tweaking as well. Quote
