V8cobra99 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 NASA Pro Racing – American Iron West 2007 Race Report – Round Four Buttonwillow Raceway, June 9-10, 2007 By Andy Bowman Series Sponsors: ToyoTires, JBA Performance Center/Headers, Agent47 Competition Products, Maximum Motorsports, Steeda Autosports, Griggs Racing, J&M Products, Anze Engineering. The west region series has been a roller coaster this year with returning veteran racers, new cars and a very tight points race. The intense level of competition can definitely be felt in the paddock. Car setup and new parts on cars continue to improve performance levels, including new aero packages on cars, close ratio transmissions, more time on dyno’s upgrading tunes, and of course the smell of new Toyo RA1 tires. Without any weather drama, 7 AI cars and 3 AIX cars appeared. Hal Massey, Bryan MacMillan, Keith Parker, Patrick Lindsey, Mike Patterson, Ryan Walton and Andy Bowman in the AI class competed. In AIX, Ernesto Roco, Corey Weber and Julio Mayen arrived for battle. The easy-going character of #117 Patrick Lindsey is a tricky smoke screen, given his goal to win both the AI-West regional championship and the AI class National Championship in September. Patrick has commanded his team that whatever it takes, he wants to win. And his performance so far this year on track has set the stage to meet his goals with four race win’s, fast lap awards and lap records, including this past race weekend. His performance alone this past weekend has sent shutters in the class, as his fast laps in virtually all the sessions were 3 to 4 seconds faster than all other cars in class. The Fox chassis, LS1 engine, Grigg’s SLA front suspension, sophisticated electronic gauges, top end aero-package and low-slung ballast car is the current force on track, and well piloted. #46 Hal “The Gentleman†Quote
Ernesto Roco Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Thanks for doing the report Andy, we appreciate it. I will see you all at Infineon. Quote
Pat L. Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Great writeup, Andy! Big thanks to you, Peder and of course Agent47. It was a crazy weekend, but lots of fun; I can't wait for Infineon! Quote
z28racergirl Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Holy dog crap, Batman! So Parker was back, Patterson (yay!) was back, Lindsey showed up, plus the usuals! What happened to Big Bill Daffron and Agent 47? My checkbook and credit cards were home nursing future injuries. What’s up with the contact between Bowman and Walton? Can it be chalked up to two competitive cars that are different beasts? (And their drivers?) I don’t read a lot of hostility into the report that I remember hearing from years past between maybe Lightning and Bruce Griggs so I won’t get too heated at this point... Remember we’re all “amateurs†Quote
