Utah944 Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 It is never to early to plan. The last weekend in November, PCA is holding a race at the Race Track of the year winner MillerMotorSports Park here in sunny Utah. Last year SP1 was represented by me and only me. I am happy to report I am track record holder. This year I am working hard to get as many SP1 cars as possible (SP2 and SP3 also invited). By November I will have towed my car twice to Colorado so in return I ask they make the trip out here. I have also towed my car twice to NorCal so I ask them to make the trip here. There is no reason why there won't be 10+ cars. There are 3 other cars being built in Utah and they will make the miller race their rookie weekend. I will buy the beer, have a cook out whatever. Come and race in Utah. Pick up an extra wife whatever. Come race in Utah. Quote
chris_venturini Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 being a poor college student ill have to see what my money situation is like at that time. So ill say, "ill try" Quote
JerryW Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Will PCA honour our NASA licenses or what do we have to do for PCA racing ? I'd hate to get out there and find the trip wasted. (Although by November wont this be an Ice Race not street ?) Quote
Tim Comeau Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I seriously frickin' laughed out loud at the "pick up an extra wife" line guys! But, I guess that's the thing to do in Utah? Do I need a passport? Quote
rd7839 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I will try my best to be there if the car is sorted and my expired SCCA license will be honored. My folks live in west valley, so I'd love to show off for them! Any other Nor cal guys want to caravan, let me know. Quote
dmdirks Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Oooooooo... I love that track. Will it be the full 4.5 miles? Quote
Chuck T. Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I would like to do Miller this year. We would need some waivers for all of Our cars. I think the kill switches are in the wrong place. License ? membership ? 13/13 (thats a bunch of cash to get sent home after a little touch on Saturday AM) . If we go to miller we would need/be able to do our local region also... Todd thanks for making the trip out to Pueblo in July We will have some cars for youto race with this time . Quote
Utah944 Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 To get a PCA license is easy. Just submit you current licenses or racer resume and the miller race will be your rookie weekend for PCA. That means an hour meeting on Friday and all the practice sessions on saturday including the practice starts. PCA is a 13/13 rules body so just drive clean. Quote

(Although by November wont this be an Ice Race not street ?) Well sort of. As far as I remember PCA will accept you as a Provisional. This means you need to run clean and attend a meeting or two so they can give you the "PCA way" they do racing. No a big deal. The bigger issue is they may requrie you do a new medical. I believe it must be completed 90 days or less from the time you submitt paper work for a provisional. Quote

I don't believe PCA will let you race if the car cannot pass PCA tech. I know my car will pass PCA tech as I was built that way from the start. Most of the rules are either the same or very very close. I would read the PCA rule book to find out. Quote
Big Dog Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I need another wife so I am in. Is there an on-line place to look at options? I will need to find a copy of the POC rules to see if my car meets their tech. As was said, a long way to go. Can I get a POC tech in So. Cal. prior to going? I have never raced with POC so I will need some imformation to make it work. I would love to drive Miller. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 PCA Club race rules are listed here http://www.pca.org/clubrace/ Quote
Chuck T. Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Under Safety number 19 ... None of the Denver local rocky mountain cars are legal. Some could be made legal pretty easy . Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 My kill switch is mounted under the hood right near the battery. I then run a cable like you would for a fire system right under the cowl that pops out under hood at the base of the windshield on the driver's side. Should be pretty quick to rig a a cable to where ever the switch is located. Quote
