Signing up for Laguna I have questions.

First off I am going to sign up for Laguna on the 1st of Oct. I know they have a sound limit of 92db. I have no clue what my car is at what would be the best way to find out? Oh and what happens if I am above the sound limit when I get there?

I have a Dodge Srt-4 and it doesnt come with a muffler it has a cat and a resonator.

Thanks for any help!

David, I use an inexpensive Radio Shack Db meter. Make sure your weighting is the same as Laguna Seca's and that you measure it at the proper distance under load. They have the option of testing right or left at the shack and I found out the hard way (black flagged) that perforated coke cans as resonators/Trapps don't cut it!

When I was over the 1st time, we scrambled to add the perforated coke cans. They burnt and blew off for the 2nd black. 3rd time = Go home!

Ok so do we know what distance this needs to be done at? You also stated that they have an option of testing either side? Can they do this at will? I have a side exit (drivers side).

Oh and thanks for the info.

The OEM SRT4 would be ok, but it sounds like you modified the exhaust. Depending on what you have done, you may run into problems. The shack is about 100 ft from the track.

Yes my exhaust is not stock but the only difference is it is now a 3" side exit instead of the 2 1/4" all the way out the back. Thanks for the info!

Darn I just relized who I was talking to...... Greg My car was the Yellow #35 at Buttonwillow this past weekend.

I'd assume if those noisy little buzsaw rx7s are allowed to run there, then you'll be fine.

I think the Wankels get a free pass since it's "Mazda Raceway" Laguna Seca

I think the sound shack is after 6 on the way up the hill where the car is under load, and it's on the right (outside). If your muffler now exits on the left you'll be better off than on the right. I have heard they sometimes take readings from other places too but normally on right.

Right side is good! As the exit is on the drivers side.
