Thanks!

I'd first like to say thanks to our 1st series sponsor, VFC Engineering. Call Doug Hillman there at 773-275-4VFC(4832) or look at the website:http://www.VFC-Engineering.com to get more info about building (or modifying)a cost-effective and competitive 944 race car. I've known Doug, his wife Robin, and their son Zach (who may be getting into a VFC-built 944 spec car soon) for many years. They'll be at the remaining Midwest events & nationals. Come by and say hello, ask questions, or get more info - you'll see my 944 with them.

Also, I'd like to encourage all of you who are building cars, Cup, or Challenge to post up so we can see what the future holds for the Midwest 944 Challenge series, get an email list going, and assist in any way we can to get you guys on the track.

For the Spec class, if we can get 4+ cars out there, Toyo bucks are available! For those making MAM, it looks like we'll get Toyo bucks with the combined Midwest & NASA fields.

For the Cup classes, Hankook bucks are also available. While any tire is legal, the reviews on the new Z214 have been very good, and you'll make yourself eligible for contingency money if you go with Hankook. Always good to support the sponsors! Look here: http://www.hankooktireusa.com/pdf/contingency/2007%20Contingency%2044%20Cup.pdf

I am leaning towards sharing contingency monies (when avaialble) equally among entrants, to help those who are just building their cars. This would help get cars that meet CCR safety regs, but are not yet built to the rules some incentive to come out. This is the way Chuck Taylor has successfully bilt the RM region. What do you guys think?

Congrats Eric and I hope to join you soon as Cup Director for NASA RM !

Thanks Eric for taking on this responsibility. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out. We can talk at MAM.

It looks like spec class is growing pretty well, I would like to see Cup grow also. I have already spoken with several PCA guys about converting their 'I' cars to Cup/SP2 cars. We'll see what happens.

A director comment now... As director, can/will you have class decals with you at the track for drivers to purchase? These are one of those items that are typically low on peoples priority list and would be nice if they can get them at the track. (they being me in this case)

Thanks again and good luck

Thanks for taking the lead in the Midwest. Will you be at Joliet?

Andy:

Good point. We use the Apex Performance windshield banner as the class identifier for the Cup class. Will send Eric a supply.

I will be giving Jim at Apex a call to get the banners ASAP. I'll see if we can get any by MAM. If not certainly by the next event. I will be attending all of the NASA Midwest races through the rest of the season, including nationals.

I'd love to see more Cup cars out their too - we're all one family out the now - I'd love to make it a *big, happy* family.

We desperatey need one more spec car to get Toyo bucks for MAM, so if anyone has a PCA contact with a NASA spec legal SP1 car (meaning no chip or headers), please twist their arm to go, or let me help you out. Last year MAM was the most fun I'd had all year, and I don't expect this year to be any different - if they go, they will have a blast!
