chucktoo Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Hi I know it is early to ask about the 2008 CCR requirements. I am just finishing up a car [ SU or TTR] that I have been building for the last 18 months to meet both NASA and SCCA requirements for safety. I just found out that SCCA is fundamentally changing their roll bar requirements for 2008 for the tubing size and GVW. This means that my car would require an entire new cage and significant rebuild to be legal which is just not worth doing. My car is based on a FFR challenge car kit with a bunch of mods like a full halo cage which added a lot of weight so I am close to 2700 lb GVW. Under the new SCCA rules this would require 1.75" tubing regardless of wall thickness which I do not have. Are thee any plans to change the CCR requirements for 2008 for roll bars ? I hope to make the August Lime Rock date run HPDE to start sorting out the car and start a log book and find any problems with my CCR compliance. I do have a current competition license so my effort is to get my car inspected and compliant as quickly as I can. Thanks Charlie Quote
Renntag Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I would imagine that once you get a logbook, you are not going to be required to meet new standards requiring a MAJOR change to the car, that would make no sense. Quote
