No, you can't cut the outer door skins up. The driver cooling ducts needs to be in the space were the window would be, or in the sun roof plate. If you don't want or can't do it this way send a rules request form and maybe they can add a rule for a smallish hole to the door skin for driver cooling.

 

As for the seat back plate you only need it if your seat is not FIA 8855-1999 standards. If it's not then you should weld the bace to the roll cage and have the plate sit 1" or less behind the seat. No need to bolt it to the seat.

I've seen a few of these installed and they were done in the manner described above...some have even added a 1/4" -1/2" of neoprene to soften the blow and/or protect the shell of the seat from incidental contact with the metal due to flexing, etc.
