loudes13 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I noticed the '07 CCR no longer specifically mentions the S2000, Z4, and Boxster for not NEEDING a rollbar. Do these cars required a roll bar for hpde and TT this year? In 2006 these cars were allowed to run without one. I've seen some confusion about this on other forums, and just wanted to check. If this has been discussed before, please point me there. Quote
beerkat Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I believe that any open top car needs to have a roll bar in it. When you sit in the car with your helmet on it must be lower than the roll bar. I think that was the problem with the factory hoops that they where not tall enough to give most people protection in the event of a roll over. Quote
cosm3os Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 When I inquired about my dad's Boxster, I was told by the HPDE Director that the broomstick rule applies. Quote
loudes13 Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 In 2006 certain cars with OEM hoops were allowed to run without a roll cage. Just wanted an offical ruling for 2007. A factory roll bar such as those found on a Honda S2000 may fulfill this requirement, but “style bars†Quote
getfast Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I believe the official ruling may depend upon the region and the track. For example, I can tell you with absolute certainty that VIR will not allow stock-rollhoop-equipped Boxsters or S2000's or Z3's or similar in HPDE regardless of what NASA says about the subject.
