H1 RULES, tapping block

Is tapping the block legal in the H1 class. Such as tapping oil for an oil accumulator. or tap into a coolant passage for a gauge?

this isnt modifying the actual passage so should be fine correct?

i ask because i want to tap my accusump to the oil passage not a sandwich adapter...

yea i think ill go where the sending unit for the dummy light goes. I have a sandwich plate for vtec already and dont want a collection of plates back there, lol

what about the coolant ... I want to put the OEM oil cooler on the b20 and wanted to know if that was legal as well.

IMO that hole is far far far to small to run the accusump through.

I'd run a sandwich plate to an remote oil filer, and run the accusump and the oil for the head from there too.

As far as the OEM oil cooler, well in racing it is more of an oil heater most people feel. If i had a motor that had one i would look into getting it out, and would never think about adding one on to a motor that didn't have it.

right on, thanks for your input. so most people choose not to run an oil cooler, interesting. I take it water is more important, like a larger radiator vs an oil cooler then.

depends on where you live, large radiator and oil cooler is almost mandatory to do any kind of racing in the southwest, temps just get way too high on track.

I am in SW thats why i wanted to do the OEM oil cooler.I have a big radiator and a good cooling system so far... i just want to know if tapping the block for coolant passage is legal so I can mount the OEM oil filter cooler..like a gsr or type r has.

just run the sandwich adapter, running that big remote oil filter, and then running an oil cooler can cause a dangerous drop in oil pressure and make the engine work harder than it needs to. If you run the sandwhich adapter, it will keep the pressure up closer to where it should be.
