I would have to agree - that is truly awesome!

My only disappointment is that I didn't think of it first!

How was your race weekend?

Just great, I finished second.

Oh, what car beat you?

A station wagon, kicked my butt.

Car looks pretty cool.

Substitute the word third for second and you've got my weekend (well, Saturday). I saw him just ahead near the end of the race but didn't even know he was running AI. Doh!

Hurry up and start cleaning and sanding then....It will take alot of time to make it look sweet.

I almost bought a v8 fairmont wagon over a year ago...it was too far away and I let it go.

Blum's car is Bad Ass for sure.

Hey guys, glad you liked the car. It was nice to finally get to run it. Frank, thanks to you and the other AI folks for letting me run with you. That was the most fun I've had racing. It was really crowded on North Course but everybody raced clean despite the chaos. I'll definitely be running with NASA again.

Hi Dave, I only saw your car from a distance on Friday during the awards when you got the Most Unlikely Track Car award. And of course a few glimpses around Nelson's '66 AIX Mustang (he was right behind you towards the end, I was behind him). I'm really glad you built that car to run AI, I used to think about building a Fairmont. But I never took the final step to "station wagon". What you've got there is a true Sport/Utility Vehicle. Before I bought my chassis I'd drive by a 4-door Fairmont with "$200" on the windshield every time I went to help Christian (AI director) build his car. It took all my willpower not to stop, cause I knew if I did... Did you manage to get 275's under the fenders? At the time I saw the 4-door, no flares were allowed in AI.

Any plans to come to Summit Point in August or October?

I'm speechless. That is simply awesome.

I couldn't agree more. That car is very cool. The mini-light rims.....f'n bitch'n.

Way to be different!

Thanks Adam and Renntag!

Frank, you could still build one! Or maybe a Granada or Grand Marquis? The possibilities are endless. I hear you on the sport/ute thing, I had that in mind when I built it. Wouldn't it be cool to pass some Porsches on track with a couple of bikes on the roof? I've already dented the aluminum in back from carrying junk around, and there are some scratches in the rear lexan from where a beer keg I had back there slid into the window.

If I had to pick the only downside to this body it's that you can't get any tire under it. No, you can't fit 275s. The most I can get under it is 245s and that's fooling around with spacers to get the offset right. Those are only 7" wheels I'm running. Mostly it's the back that has the clearance issues. I think this winter I'll cut the inner fenders and flare the rear some.

I don't know whether I'll make anything at Summit with work being as crazy as it is right now. I wouldn't mind going though, it's been years since I've been there. We'll see.

I've already got an AI car to siphon off 100% of my time and money now, thanks. VIR was the first full weekend shakedown/comp school/racing, so I think I'll keep it a while. Nothing much unique about it beyond the ultra-mild, reliable, low-rpm 351W (once again, built before the torque limit rule), but it looks like it will get the job done.

You mean your car is still street legal? Sweet, very sweet. You've got to find some fireproof shag carpeting for the back though.

That's what I figured, and what discouraged me from the 4-door back when you could only roll the fenders for tire clearance.

Well Dave, I think I can speak for the entire Thunder field when I say we'd love to see you there. If not this month, then maybe in October?

Frank, the car is still street legal. I try to drive it to work and back a couple times a week. Without all the decals on it nobody seems to notice it.
