chris_venturini
our regional (and possibly soon to be national) sponsor, dart auto, is looking to be a ground control vendor for us 944 guys. He can get us a set for 40 dollars cheaper than the "p" guys who rhyme with octagon. In order for him to be able to get us this kind of a deal we have to show interest in the product so he can make the investment. Is there anyone in the process of a suspension build that would be interested in a set?
Snymo
Chris, Those are definitely on my list of "nice to haves" but I gotta get the car up to date on maintenance issues first. However, if the price is that good I might have to jump on the group deal. Keep me posted. Rick
cullen winter
Further into the fall, for certain. Camber plates possibly as well (I still want to make some with caster adjustment too)
Snymo
I still want to make some with caster adjustment too Is that legal for the spec class? The rules just say... 14.3.2 Camber plates are allowed provided they bolt to the chassis using existing shock mounting holes and make no modification to the shock tower. If it is legal that would be nice. Here are the ones I had on my ITS 944. I know we can't get that extreme (these modified the shock tower), but more caster would be good. JSilverman
Paragon sells the GC kit for $265 including springs, and koni competition bump stops. Are you saying that you will be able to sell this same kit for $225? If that is correct put me down for a set. ground control does also make a set of camber plates that have caster adjustment. you probably have to cut the tops off the strut towers but that that is pretty standard for installing camber paltes on any car. Off Camber
I thought you just adjusted caster with the rear A arm mount. Thant should be legal.

I don't believe it comes with the Koni bump stops, but it should be $220 or less. I didn't think the kit sold by Paragon was actually Ground Control though. 944-Spec#94
The paragon kit is a ground control kit, but with paragon's name on them. They are both camber and caster adjustable and work with the coilover kit as well. They are legal and many cars use them.

The website says they can adjust caster, but it sure doesn't look like it to me. They appear adjustable in one direction (camber) only. Any of you guys use them and know ? I use Noltec plates in my other car, so that's what familiar with, thanks

You can slide the plate forwards and backwards and adjust camber that way. Not much, but everything helps. It was good for a half a degree on my SRT4, which used the GC plates. cullen winter
Thank you for clearing that up Rick, I was looking for the top of the strut to move in both directions. That is a clever design !
Snymo
Yeah, I wish they made something like what I used to have. All you had to do was loosen the bolts on the outer ring and the entire assembly would rotate. It was super easy to adjust camber and caster. I was up around 5.5 degrees of caster. It was awesome! But, that setup, with the custom shock tower and a rebuild of the front shocks to be height adjustable was $2500! Heck, that's almost what I paid for my car! cullen winter
This is how my Noltecs look. I don't think the stock strut tower has enough room for this type of set-up on the porshe. Too bad, I've got over 5 degrees +caster. They're a slick set-up. (hey Rick, got 'em used for $165, Nya-nya !) Sorry for the de-rail Chris. I hope DART comes through on this ! Snymo
Cullen, that's an interesting setup. So you mount that to the strut tower, thread the shock through and then slide the "inside" piece around to the desired location and then clamp it down with the "outside" blue piece? I went to Noltecs website and that's what it looks like. How secure is that? Obviously if you never had them slip they are pretty stout. Definitely and interesting idea. Rick Never slipped on me, mine are all the way in, all the way back. The blue "sandwich" is bolted tight by only the 3 mounting bolts that come through the tower. Simple and effective. Might possibly work for our cars, I'll have a closer look when I get the Porsche home.
944cer
Hi Chris, I'm interested. Once the engine is rebuilt/rod bearings and head redone I'll work on the suspension. Lee
aben8057
Im interested if he can beat the $219 price. What spring rate and mfg options will be provided?
JamesWilson
I do not recommend the Noltec pieces, I have used their products in the past in several other projects...bushings are fine, but the camber plates are more street-based pieces (you can see the urethane poured in the center carrier). That an the anodization stinks and the hardware corrodes...good thing my last car was burned up in a shop fire, good riddance to the Noltec CP! I haven't used these, but I am already a fan-- http://www.kokeln.com/raised_camber_plate_kit.php

Weston
Any word on the coilover pricing, Chris? I really need to get something ordered soon so I can get it installed and do an alignment before Hastings...
944cer
I hate to get ahead of myself and the engine work, but since I'm not doing the Hastings race I have money for go fast parts. I would love to put on the raised camber plates, tower bar, coilovers, konis and a nice front sway bar. Bugs worked out of the new car, able to run with DK and Chuck. Ahhh to dream. Seriously Chris let us know the details. Since the car will be in pieces again I could do the front suspension work while the heads are being done and the car is filling the garage. What happened to your car Lee ? Sorry it's giving you trouble. Anything I should be looking for on mine when I get it ? Thanks
