JW Racing Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 2 questions, the engine codes in H2 say B18C1 and B18C5 i see, well Jdm motors are just B18C for both ITR and GSR. How do you classify the JDM type r and GSR , by the head being used? because it can be a type r or gsr block being the code is just B18C. My motor is a JDM b18C GSR, but it has higher comp. than a U.S.dm GSR. where would this fall under? C1 or C5 ? second if it is classified as a C1 than in the B18C1 H2 limited, the rule book says OEM cam. this includes ITR/CTR cams correct? Quote

Yes, the head will either be stamped P72 or PR3, P72 being GSR and PR3 being ITR. JDM GSR has a CR that is allowable according to the rules since you can go up .5 comp points. OEM cam though means you can't run anything other than GSR in a GSR engine. The rules say only the B16A can run ITR/CTR cams. However, this means you cannot run ITR pistons in a GSR block with a GSR head and run at GSR weight. Nor can you run in H2 with that setup. That is considered a 'hybrid' and would most likely be classed in H1. Feel free to ask any more questions as I'm finishing up my H2 car for 2008 right now and I'd be happy to help with any advice. Justin right on, yea Im going to start in H2 as well because the car, brakes wise and a few other things allowed like non oem hood, cam gears allowed, are similar to H1 where i eventually want to go. But with the stock Jdm gsr in the coupe now, im just going to run H2 and get in the rythym.I just want to be sure where I can classify the motor. So being the comp is .5 higher than USD GSR, i cant raise it another .5 as per the rules can i? so basically it will be a match ported jdm gsr engine with stock cams and stock 10.5 to 1 comp. and blox manifold and this will let me class my car 2400lbs B18C1. I see ... Quote
PSUCRX Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 you got it, but double check on cam gears, I believe those must remain OEM in H2. also, what's your track experience, because jumping into race group right off the bat can get pretty hairy and it's hard to unlearn bad habits. Spend some time in HPDE if you haven't already...then decide when it will work best for you. Your pocket book will thank you later as you won't spend as much time learning costly mistakes. Quote
JW Racing Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) I am actually going to run TT for quite a few events and do the DC school before i jump into the HC shark tank. lol. Im just building the car according to the rules as I go along; so once Im ready, the car should be as well. The motor is out so I asked about the rules so can freshen it up;because next month were putting the cage in ,painting it and doing some gallery features for my sponsors before i tear it up. Hopefully it all comes together for the spring time opener. you in so cal? out of curiosity when and where are these internal engine rules checked? when I get the logbook? PSUCRX Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 when I originally read the rules, I thought I saw it say no cam gears, that's why I said double check;-) As for where I am, i'm in AZ, but I try and make it to SoCal at least once a year, and I've been out there quite a few times when I used to have my GSR. PSUCRX Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 well I'm getting married in March, but if you want to come out for PIR before then, I'll definately leave an open door for you. My roommate and I have a house on the north side of town with a garage and some work space, air tools, etc. We both drive and are at every event. Quote
