QUASAR
I was gonna email Dave Royce about this but others may benifit so i'll just ask here. Looking into running the HPDE only event at Gingerman next month. Can someone explain the difference in trying to obtain your TT license on a regular racing weekend vs. the HPDE only weekends like upcoming Gingerman (Midwest) and Nelson Ledges (OH/IN). The CCR states that I have to complete a HPDE 4 event as a minimum to be approved. Is there some 4/TT program that will be taking place at these special events that I could partake in that would get me a chance to license? These weekends already cost me a fortune in overall costs so if I could aquire a TT license at the same time it would help out alot. From the Gingerman Event page: "TT LICENSING If you are interested in obtaining your TT license, you can get it done at Gingerman."
bbyevo
If you are an HPDE 3 driver, and get signed off for HPDE 4 (at Gingerman for example) you can apply for your TT license after you run in 4 for the first time. So I suppose you could run in 3 on saturday, get signed off for 4, then run 4 on sunday (is it a two day event??) and apply for your license after the regional TT Director signs off on you at the end of the day on sunday. kbrew8991
depends on how your region runs things with SE, DE4 is reserved solely for instructors, so as a TT director we'd wait until you're an advanced DE3, do a check-ride in one of those sessions, and you'd be good to run TT provisionally from there, getting your full license after a successful TT weekend sounds like your region may run things differently though... 1LapSRT
and apply for your license after the regional TT Director signs off on you at the end of the day on sunday. But if it is a HPDE only weekend, there may not be anyone there to sign off on him! ? !

kbrew8991
which is why if I were him, I'd get ahold of the TT Director and find out... you can run in TT without the license IF your director will sign off on a provisional license sheet, which is what I've done for just about everyone I've signed off on so far this is the process I use, but again, check with YOUR TT director... step 1: pass check ride step 2: receive provisional TT license for the weekend step 3: complete TT sessions succesfully step 4: license gets signed off on, send it in, etc
QUASAR
The region i've run with this year (OH/IN) does not reserve HPDE4 for instructors. 4 is a mix of regular 4 drivers and TT guys. What is sounds like is that this event is different than other typical race weekends in that they will do some special program or something. This past weekend at Mid Ohio NASA directors told us that those people that signed up for Neslon Ledges HPDE only event will get to do some fun drills like running side by side with another car all around track and other things. I'm just wondering what they mean by "TT LICENSING If you are interested in obtaining your TT license, you can get it done at Gingerman." They actually have that choice in the dropdown menu when registering. I just want to know more about it.
