HPDE1/2 driver attire?

New to NASA, but I've attended 3 RMCBMWCCA driving schools. They allow the driver to wear short sleeve shirt and shorts. It looks like NASA requires long sleeve shirt and pants. Is that correct?

Thanks,

Steve

Long pants everywhere. Short sleeve shirts except at tracks which require long sleeves as part of their use contract with NASA. Many do.

Refer to NASA CCR section 11.3.3.

11.3 states T-shirt. The HPDE page on this site states long sleeve. That's why I asked.

Anyone know the rules for Hastings this weekend?

Thanks,

Steve

short sleeves should be ok.

The NASA group leader shirts have short sleeves and instructor T-shirts have short sleeves ...

Guys, from reading the multitude of answers, I am thoroughly confused as to which is correct--good thing that I'm not basing my answer on this

Here is the correct answer:

1) It is region dependent

2) It is track dependent

There are some regions (and tracks), that will allow both short pants and short sleeve shirts (SoCal at Willow Springs in July and August (110 deg) for one). Some regions never allow short pants, but do allow short sleeve shirts. And, some regions (and their tracks) require long pants and shirts at all times. So, that is why the answers on this thread are all over the place.

So, the best bet for a new driver that is not familiar with the regional rules, and the track rules is to at least bring long pants and a long shirt to every event. Then, also bring a short sleeve shirt if desired, and even a pair of short pants if it is really hot (they aren't really very short anymore, are they?). Once you are at the track, you can easily get the correct answer for the day from you group leader(s), and tech officials.
