Quad4Rob
I'm considering one of the approved Engine swap combos. Do we have to use the donor car ECU, trans, and associated parts or can we mix-match these items as available from the donor/receiving car? National Staff Greg G. Posted December 27, 2007 National Staff Share Posted December 27, 2007 Yes, you have to use the donor ECU, otherwise, you need to take the points assessment for ECU modification. The swap is for the motor, not the transmission. So, if you also want (or need) to swap the transmission from the donor car, you need to take the +3 for altered gear ratios (assuming they are not identical). You cannot mix and match any other parts. All motor parts from the donor car must be swapped, or a points assessment must be made for those motor parts left from the receiving car.
