Bueller Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I read this on the Hoosier site last week. Excuse me if its already been discussed. I didnt see it anywhere. Why are they only offering this to 5 regions? What about the other 6 regions? I was told that the West coast regions were supposed to be included also. I dont see them noting it on their site. LAKEVILLE, IN (February 21, 2008) -- Hoosier Racing Tire is proud to announce a new contingency program to assist N.A.S.A. club racers using Hoosier tires. This program will be made available to N.A.S.A. competitors in the Northeast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes and Midwest regions of N.A.S.A. Bruce Foss, Hoosier Road Racing Product Manager, commented, "We are anticipating a successful and long-term relationship with N.A.S.A. competitors. This new program will enhance Hoosier's widespread support of grassroots-level motorsports across the nation." Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 does not apply to any TT class Hankook, Toyo, and maybe a few others do offer stuff to TTers Quote
Bueller Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 does not apply to any TT class Hankook, Toyo, and maybe a few others do offer stuff to TTers Thanks for reminding me. Because when i called Hoosier, i asked specifically as a TTer. They did not state anything about that. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 if they'll get it to you (and the rest running purple tires) that is fantastic means they need to update their documentation on it however Quote
jvetthead Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 but um, why not all REGIONS? Like Texas Region? Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 from the discussions in the PT and ST sections, its largely funded by the distributors and not by Hoosier itself (been wrong before though) Quote
Members Shawn M. Posted March 2, 2008 Members Posted March 2, 2008 but um, why not all REGIONS? Like Texas Region? Word is it is now being offered to all of NASA PT drivers. It just hasnt been officially announced yet. But again, it doesnt effect TT because this is a PT program only. Quote

I expect to be ready for ST-1 this year is the reason for the question. Will it not apply to ST? No I have not read the release. Quote

kbrew8991 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 We'll compare the number of podiums from NASA-SE TT against NASA-TX program come Sept if you want Quote
jvetthead Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 We'll compare the number of podiums from NASA-SE TT against NASA-TX program come Sept if you want Oh, I agree there are a lot more serious racers in SE than TX. Our HPDE and TT classes never fill up like yalls do. Last year I was only the second person to get a TT licence in TX.... Hopefully I can make nationals this year.. Quote

Junior Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I spoke with Jeff Speer at Hoosier today, and he says that they are evaluating the TT program. If things look good, they may add TT to the contingency list next year. So I guess this means we need more people to come out and play. I sure hope there are more coming to the Mid-Ohio event in April. Right now it's slim pickin's. This will be my first event, and was hoping to have more cars to run with. IS300 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Junior What are you worried about Hoosier's for? KUMHO's are much faster You should know that. I was hoping that was you, why don't you come to St. Louis the last weekend in April. I would come to M-O in April but to much of a chance for rain. Take Care Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Chris - I'd love to see Kumho step up to the plate for contingency stuff, they're one of the rare few left now... Quote
eMINI Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Hankooks rock! [Hint: They pay me to say that. ] Quote

Take Care Hey Chris, I'd love to be able to come to St. Louis, but the budget won't allow it, and as for that KUMHO thing. That's really funny... We all know that the "K" tire is only fast every 6 years. They should be fast again in about 2010. Hope to see you at a track or parking lot some time this year.
