dsmithwc04 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I am looking at a 1990 mustang in the RACECARS FOR SALE forum and saw an AS being sold that said it is elgible for NASA AI. Anything I should know before I buy? I'm new to NASA and am looking forward to racing AI soon once I get my license. I will be attending the mid-ohio in April so I need a car fast. Thanks for all who can help me in the right direction, Dan. Quote
stevepoe Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Hey Dan......1st wellcome....I'm in Cincinnati So mid-ohio is around the corner for me and I will be at mid-ohio in april Also. give me a shout anytime if you have any questions. I looked at that car listed and it looks to be a better car for cmc then ai as it sits. I don't think the 306 will cut it in AI..sure it can run in AI if you change the wheels and tires but I don't think it will run up front as it sits if that is what your asking. unless your related to borris said...lol... If your looking for a AI car I can point you in a few directions for a nicer car for just a little more money...... put it this way I just just bought a 347 94 car with a full mm suspinsion and coil overs and a ton of goodies on the car for 13,500... just a fyi... maybe post a wanted ad in the wanted forumn. anytime [email protected] and good luck Quote
Raybob9289 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Hey Dan, Do you have to have a Mustang? One of our AI Racers here in RMR has built a GTO over the winter and he has a very fast 91 Camaro. He said he'd like to get 10K for it. If your interested I'll get you some more info??? Quote
dsmithwc04 Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 Doesn't really matter what kind of car it is as long as it will compete. I need it soon to get ready for mid-ohio. Thanks again everyone, Dan. Quote
onralz Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Just one contradiction. Don't assume that an AS 306 won't be competitive in AI. It depends on the weight of the car. My 306 AS motor made more power than I currently make with my AI car. My AI car is too light to run a big motor like a 347 without choking it down. The problem with the AS car is more suspension than motors. Quote

pederb Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 AS cars are usually over powered, with not enough brakes or suspension to well in AI. Quote
