Red Tornado Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Looks like a big turnout and nice race weekend. Great chance to start the year off well. Already a big AI crowd but would always welcome more. Goes for both March events at Road Atlanta and VIR. All you mid-ohio folks come to the dark side and try your luck before we spank you at nationals. Quote
stevepoe Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I'll be at Road Atlanta next weekend racing against the two other cmc cars Quote
Red Tornado Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 I think several folks in T&T will be also joining the racing but are hiding it appears currently. Quote

jeffburch Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 325hp, 18" BFG rubber etc,etc. If I was a legitimate CMC2 car I would'nt be very thrilled. jb Quote
stevepoe Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 looking over at the entry list ....... pretty large... this is looking to be a good one...does anybody know what the run groups are? is cmc cmc 2 running with ai /aix ffr ? Quote
stevepoe Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I agree Jeff. I wonder why they are not in aix ? looks like that would be the better place for them.... Quote
Members Jim P. Posted March 11, 2008 Members Posted March 11, 2008 The run groups are listed on each page, all CMC, AI, AI/X and Miller Mustangs will be in Thunder... Quote
stevepoe Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Loookkkk out. This is going to be fun... Jeff, how are you going to navigate the ai traffic Hopefully I'll be right behind you.......Least I know my place for now Quote
jeffburch Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Uh oh, I smell trouble-a-brewin'. Ginsberg has already claimed that spot jb Quote
stevepoe Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Ginsberg has already claimed that spot Well I guess if he is behind you ,I'll be looking for a way around him Quote
jeffburch Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 10-4 Hey Adam, better turn your camera aft. jb Quote
Adam Ginsberg Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 10-4 Hey Adam, better turn your camera aft. jb Yeah...so I'll know when Steve is going to "bump draft" me. Quote
stevepoe Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Adam, if all goes well and as planned and my new motor runs the way it should then you will not have to worry that someone is racing you cause I'll be in front of you... Quote
tacovini Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Did we ever get a clarification on the Miller Mustangs? I'd really like to see them in AI where they technically are classed so that we can get some data and photos and such. Will they be CMC-2 choked & prepped or run free in AIX? I think this is a historic occasion if there will be 7 of them running with us. Basically the Mustang Challenge begins with NASA and their AI/Camaro-Mustang Challenge brotheren!!! Pantas...get that media machine cranked up!!! Wish I could be there. -=- Todd Quote

Steve, Now remember...it's only "bump drafting" if it is consensual...otherwise it's called "body contact". Quote
jeffburch Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 TC, JP gave them their own class, Miller Cup. jb Quote
tacovini Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Uhahhhh...I want to see AI stickers on those cars parked amongst our machines...helicopter group photo...NASA stickers on the sides. Come on...this is big stuff. The Mustang Challenge!!! The Big Guns are emulating us scrappy little guys. Am I the only one who thinks this is too cool? Quote

If they are going to emulate us (AI cars), they need to find about 3 seconds a lap! What I find more interesting is those guys are going to RA instead of "closer" tracks here in Texas...don't most of those guys run out of Cali and Utah? Quote
jeffburch Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I think their 1st race is at RA on the weekend of May 3rd. jb Quote

Also, that rear wing mount is going to be difficult to homologate to AI..looks to be hanging off the back of the car more than the 1.5" allowed...but it is a bad angle to reference from. someone should put a plumb bob on it and see where it falls on the rear bumper cover. Actually, at the center of the wing, it is over 1.5" INBOARD of the rear bumper. If you look at this picture, you can see on the red car how far in the edge of the wing is in relation to the endplates, at about the "U" in "MUSTANG CHALLENGE"; then look at the first white car to see the relation to the bumper. Don't worry, many rulesets were taken into account... Quote
stevepoe Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 is this wing for sale to the average racer? Quote
