I found a crack in my chassis and was wondering if this is repairable, and if it is, would it pass tech. I was preparing the car for HPDE use, but after finding the crack, i've stopped working on the car until i can find an answer to my question. The car is a 1991 240sx.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

You can put on whole new front clips if your need to. In my (non-offiicial) opinion, you can have that repaired by a reputable body shop, but it may not be cheaper than starting with a better shell, depending on how far along you are. Before you invest the money, at least go through the car carefully to make sure there are no other suprises.

Could it not be welded and reinforced?

Something big must have caused it to happen in the first place. Wonder what it was.

it doesn't look that bad, to me at least. It does not involve any suspension mounting points, engine mounting points. just the fender, but than again, what do I know.

Using the manufacturer's directions and specifications it should be able to be repaired.

Designing your own repair might not cut it.
