henjiro Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Hi, Does anyone know if sticky pod is ok to use during HPDE? I was planning on mounting it on my dash. I don't have bar or cage. If anyone is interested, here it the link: http://www.stickypod.com/osc/product_info.php?products_id=32 Thanks Quote
NOT///MPOWER Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 There is a section in the NASA CCR that talks about camera mounts, but only states that the camera must be attached with at least one bolt, and must be secured with a tether if the weight of the camera is over (3 oz I think). From what I know about NASA's regulations, if it is not specifically mentioned as being permissable, then it is most likely not allowed. Check out the CCR link on the NASA homepage. Lots of good info there. If all else fails, contact your region's director. -Fritz (HPDE2 student) Quote
STRINGER Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I have to agree with Fritz But never hurts to ask. Quote
tur8o Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I know that trackdaze just banned them last week at VIR due to one falling off on track. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case with NASA also. /Greg Quote
STRINGER Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Sounds like a just cause for bolt it down and strap it up for me as NASA Rules state. Last thing I would want on the track is to have something moving around in the car. One time I had a window crank come off and get under my feet. NOT FUN and was very much diverting my attention from driving. Quote
mcolangelo2005 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 This is what I use on my street car: http://www.filmtools.com/cruisecam.html It clamps onto the seat headrest posts. It's worked out pretty well for me. Quote

But thanks for all the inputs. Quote

(HPDE2 student) How does one tether a recorder mounted with a CruiseCam headrest unit? Quote
NOT///MPOWER Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 The tether is to tether the cam to the mount. most cams have a place to attech a wrist strap. use this to tether the cam to the mount. It's just in case the bolt that mounts the cam & mount together vibrates loose, or fails. Quote
NOT///MPOWER Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 If you go to the cruisecam site, you can see the tether in the pics. looks like it's provided with the mount. http://www.filmtools.com/cruisecam.html Quote

henjiro Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 After I searched around, I ended up making my own mount for my STI. I created a how-to DIY page. See here: http://www.silentmonkeyfart.com/?page_id=4 Quote
