Red Tornado Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Road Atlanta (very unofficial write up)- Saturday- Hail and Tornado were a reality pretty much all day so 90% of day was a total washout literally. Landon qualified 1st followed by Robin then me. Times were in the 2:20's (normally we are sub 1:40's so gives you an idea how bad the track and weather was. Qualifying started about 1 minute after a major downpour began. Race was in a little drier condition but not great. Robin had a nice jump and I think caught Landon by turn 6. I was running with Landon on the back straight and then car just didn't seem right and checked gauges just in time to see temp go from 210 to 240 like a tach. Oil temps were normal so I remained out for the remainder of race at coast level and keeping rev's low (college education clearly doesn't by real brains as it was not a possible fan issue like I thought it may be and appears to be blown head gaskets and time for a rebuild) Robin pulled in a nice victory followed by Landon and then Joe Lee driving Ken's car starting from the back I believe. Sunday was much nicer day and qualifying times were still hurt by giant lake in esses and some wet spots, Robin, John Lee, and Landon made up the top 3. Track was nearly perfect and dry for race. Robin and John Lee battled after Landon had a rear end issue (sounds personal) and dropped out. JohnLee grapped the lead briedly but a broken gear shifter forced him to he-man adjust but he still finished a strong 2nd. Robin locked in victory #2 for the weekend. Congrats Robin!!! Special Thanks to Rehagen Racing for supporting me this weekend and also checking the patient on Saturday night. They also I think did a 1,2,3 sweep of the Miller Cup Challenge cars. Awesome job Jamie on the win and everyone else. Quote
