Members Shawn M. Posted March 18, 2008 Members Posted March 18, 2008 I just want to remind people since the last Socal event we had quite a few issues with this one. 9.1 Numbers and Class Designation All NASA TT cars must display a three-digit number on both sides and the rear of the car unless a one or two digit number has been permanently assigned to that vehicle by NASA TT administration. Numbers must be of a contrasting color to the car or otherwise clearly visible, at least 10-inches tall with a 1.5-inch stroke for the sides, and four inches high for the rear. NASA TT cars must also display a class designation on both sides and the rear of the car in a four-inch height in contrasting color to the car. Class Designations shall be TT followed by the group number. For example, an A Group competitor would display “TTA” as a class designation. Thank you! Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 thats on the "to-do" list for NASA-SE TT, except the 3 digit number sillyness... Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted March 19, 2008 National Staff Posted March 19, 2008 thats on the "to-do" list for NASA-SE TT, except the 3 digit number sillyness... It's only "sillyness" for you "little guys" that don't have more than a hundred TT drivers per season. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) we're at 51 after 2 events, guess we have some work to do edit, those are 51 unique entrants btw Edited March 19, 2008 by Guest Quote
1LapSRT Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Someone needs to work with Mid Atlantic. I signed up for their TT event next weekend and there are currently 8 other participants TOTAL! Only 1 other in my class. Quote
betamotorsports Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Someone needs to work with Mid Atlantic. Work it yourself. The best recruiters for a race series are the competitors themselves. Talk your buddies into coming along and watching/helping. At least one of them will catch the bug and you might end up with another competitor in your class. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 its a much easier sell with support from the region and series directors though, gotta give credit there... SE TT wouldn't be as big as it is without all the help I get from T&S, Regional Directors, Chief Instructors, etc Quote
Members Shawn M. Posted March 20, 2008 Author Members Posted March 20, 2008 yeah well, the point was that people are showing up with either no numbers and class or the wrong size or not located in the right place. I think someone needs to get Ken a pirate hat! Quote
Varkwso Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 thats on the "to-do" list for NASA-SE TT, except the 3 digit number sillyness... We are getting there. What is the reason for knocking out the first 99 numbers anyway? Quote

Members Shawn M. Posted March 20, 2008 Author Members Posted March 20, 2008 We are getting there. What is the reason for knocking out the first 99 numbers anyway? Because in some regions, people who race also run in time trial. They often have have low numbers and they are given first dibbs on the number. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 so again, its a So/NorCal thing thats made its way into the National ruleset... gotcha - Ken, who lets his registration people deal with the number assignments as they're better equipped to do so Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted March 20, 2008 National Staff Posted March 20, 2008 Racers are supposed to be using one or two digit numbers, because it makes it easier for T&S when they are "hand taping" the running order every lap. TT cars don't need them, so especially in the larger regions, where we have more than a hundred drivers anyway, we try to assign them as needed to TT drivers, and save some for racers who are going to run TT and race. If you guys are having more than 40 TT drivers at an event, you will likely end up having more than 100 drivers for the season also. It is a pain when you have drivers showing up with the same number. Lastly, the rule allows a region to give out the one and two digit numbers to TT drivers if that's what they want to do. It just doesn't allow a new TT driver to show up with a two digit number and claim it. Quote
Varkwso Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I have #s 15, 111 and 130 in SE TT locked down then.... Quote

Only 1 other in my class. We'll have around 15 TT'ers at VIR this weekend - of which you are not one, as per the most recent entry list (?) Don't get me started on why more people don't sign up... it's something we have been trying to fix for 2 years now. Jon Quote
