Spec944 #143 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I have a new seat which has the "ears" and I need some more room for it it fit in my car. I am planning on cutting out the box/brace which currently runs across the driver side floor pan. The old factory seats bolted to it. If a cut it out I will have the needed room for the left ear to fit inside my cage. How crucial is the brace for the car? should I weld in a new brace across the floor to replace it? Quote

You want those braces in crash. They will help prevent some floor bending. It may not be a lot, but some. Strong seat mouting is critical to safe car. If you must cut some of that out please install something else to retain strength. If you go to Rennlist and look for RedlineMan he is an excellent resource on seat mounting. Quote
