Rook Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Okay so Mustangs are loud.... would it be wise to invest in an in-helmet intercom system? I'm looking at the ChatterBox Tandem Pro available on IO Port Quote
99HOSS Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 ... as an Instructor, they are the only way to really communicate with the student and they are mandatory in the NASA - MidAtlantic region. If a car is too loud, be it an open top or a race car, we'll resort to hand signals, but the Chatterbox is the comm device of choice for the majority of Instructors. Quote
ninetyfourintegra Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Are you an instructor or a student? All of my instructors have had some sort of intercom system that they bring to the car with _them_. I have never had to supply one myself... Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted March 24, 2008 National Staff Posted March 24, 2008 SoCal instructors are also required to have one. Quote

Are intercoms required for NASA SE instructors? (i.e. should I expect mine to have the system itself) I'm a student, by the way. Quote
STRINGER Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 As a student...you need nothing. Your instructor will have all the goodies for communications between you two. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 those systems come as a full set usually, so I wouldn't worry about needing the student side of it, they should have it all (or they'll mess up and not have anything) but if its something that you feel will be absolutely vital to your learning, get something as a backup - the NADY brand motorcycle communicators are what I use and they're only ~$30 shipped off Ebay Quote
