Rob O Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I want to pre-register for events months ahead but how do you know when you need to start pre-registering for level 2? I will do my first HPDE 1 in two weeks at CMP but I want to sign now up for events in May, June and July. Do I just sign up now for level 1 at all future events and hope level 2 is not full in the event I move up in class? Quote

Do I just sign up now for level 1 at all future events and hope level 2 is not full in the event I move up in class? First, does your S2000 have a roll bar? Second, expect to be in HPDE1 a minimum of 2 events, possibly 3 and register that way. Track your progress with your HPDE passport. Quote
jason Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Or, do what I do: Bug the crap out of the registrar with changes every other day. Quote
kbrew8991 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 check with your region to be sure 1.) your S2000's stock roll hoops may be ok at one track but not another due to the track's rules imposed on NASA 2.) see what they want for progress. Some are sticklers for the "must do 3 events" kind of requirements, others use it as a recommendation and move you up when you show you've mastered the skills Quote
Rob O Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 Perfect answers guys, that is exactly what I needed to know. For the June envent I'm looking at will be my 4th event so now I know to regiester for level 1. No roll bar on the S2000 yet, just the factory hoops. I got a quote last week on a full cage but will be a while before I can aford it. I will send an email to the regional registars about the tracks before I sign up then. Hey Jason, we need to meet. I see you on Tennesspeed.net and got passed by you at the MCMC last September at the Nashville Super Speedway, more than once. Well, it was your car that passed me and I will leave it at that. LOL. kbrew8991 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 if you impress your instructor or whatever and get recommended for HPDE2 or whatnot its always easy to get your registrar to change your future entries assuming the event isn't sold out Quote

Absolutely. We'll be at the MCMC event again Memorial Day weekend. Be sure and give a holler. And if the car was being driven fast, it was probably Katie driving. Quote
Rob O Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 I knew it was her, Moody told me, I just didn't want to admit it. I would see her backing into the garage when I was pulling around to my pit. I asked around who the fast chick was in the vet then I found out, DOH! Quote
Rob O Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Per Jim all is good for the Southeast tracks with exception to Barber, not a garrante. Still have no reply from Dave with the Great Lakes tracks I requested, Putnam and Mid Ohio. Quote
markseven Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I register for the next event a day or two after returning from the last. That way, I am sure the car is track worthy for the next event and I can choose the correct DE. It would suck to pay for four events up-front and then not be able to attend for one reason or another. Rob O Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 That's an excelent idea! I won't have to worry about it for a few months until I get 3 or 4 weekends under my belt. I don't know why I'm not getting answers for Mid Ohio and Putnam though. I sent a few more emails tonight. Quote
jason Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Registration isn't open for the May Putnam event yet is it? Katie is considering running that weekend. Quote
Rob O Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 Yes, it's open. Try here https://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/show/?event_id=722. I'm still waiting for an answer from NASA about my S2000 roll hops before I sign up for Putnam. If my car is good then I will be there too. Come to think of it, I have sent 3 emails and even called NASA headquarters and no answer to my questions. I will start a thread in the great lakes section. Quote
Joshua Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 No roll bar on the S2000 yet, just the factory hoops. I got a quote last week on a full cage but will be a while before I can aford it. If you're looking for a roll bar for the S2000, here's a link to a good option. http://www.bethania-garage.com/s2000.htm Enjoy the car, buying an S2000 is what got me hooked on HPDEs too. Quote
Rob O Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 I've looked at the hard dog application and considered it. I could bolt it in for now then sell it later but really don't want that hassel. They are an 8 hour drive one way so I would have to buy the bolt in, ship it, then pay someone local to install it. I found a shop local to Nashville TN that builds circle track cars and has done a bunch of Vets and Miatas for SCCA. That is my direction but I need to have the seats and hard top at the same time for fit measurements. I just have to save up the $$$. Quote
