Webb & Sampson Seek Repeat Victory at Buttonwillow Saturday, April 26

After tasting victory at the rainy and muddy nighttime enduro at Buttonwillow in April of 2007, Team Sampson Racing Communications is hoping for a repeat performance at NASA’s 3-hour Western Endurance Racing Championship event on Saturday, April 26. Scott Webb and Shawn Sampson will share driving duties, with Mona Sampson calling strategy from pit lane on the Sampson Racing Communications radios.

Mazda experts Mobicanics freshened the team’s RX-7 considerably since a disappointing DNF due to contact after 21 hours of racing at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in December. Updates include a new engine from the Mazda rotary engine specialists at Mobius Motorsports and fresh Motul synthetic fluids throughout. PIAA lamps will once again light the way, having proven invaluable at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, where the team managed to set their fastest race lap just before midnight due to excellent nighttime visibility; not to mention predictable handling from the Tein suspension and consistent Toyo Tires (even after twelve hours of racing on the same set).

Come on out and spend the evening watching all the racing action. Temps are expected to be in the 70’s during the race, which is scheduled to take the green flag at 6:10 pm. Buttonwillow Raceway Park is only about two hours north of Los Angeles, within sight of the 5 freeway at the Lerdo Highway exit. NASA has a full schedule of wheel-to-wheel racing on Saturday, including enduro qualifying at 11:20 am. For detailed directions, visit: http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com/trackfacts.htm
