Tim Comeau Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 We really showed the crowd what our cars can do! John Rickard # 77 Russ McKee # 98 and Timmy # 22 were in attendance. Russ and I worked together on his driving all day and we had a blast! That stinker drove 3 seconds faster during his timed laps than he did in practice all day! At the last AX, he drove 4 seconds quicker than his practice laps! Impressive. Quick study?! Since the tires on his ex-Marguglio car were better, I drove his car for my 3 timed laps. Clutch engaged way later compared to mine, car handled a little differently, but I adapted ok. Top time of day was a 1:01 and some change, in a mega bucks 911. I cranked out a 1:04.8X and the crowd was stunned. I told 'em, "That's what these cars are capable of!" as I picked up my little tiny ribbon for the class win. I placed 10th fastest TTOD and got in a big ol' commercial for our class. Quote
John Anderson Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 wow....... you did it again...your our hero. \\\l/// l l l l l l l l l l V AAAHHHH, HA HA HA, ( pointing fingers at Tim) bet you thought I was being sarcastic Timmy I wish Mike would have been able to make it out. The guy is busy as hell right now and doesn't seem to have time to enjoy his car. Take Care, Quote
Tim Comeau Posted August 24, 2004 Author Posted August 24, 2004 Thanks, John.........I think? Who loves ya, baby?! (kojack) No but seriously, let's get Mike out there AX'ing. It doesn't have to be in the white car, but that would be best for him. I'll make it very affordable to rent one of my cars if he can't transport the # 69 car or has any other excuses for not starting his driving career. Mike's a super nice guy and just the kind of people I'd love to have in the series. There's a number of brand spankin' new drivers in the series and they'll have a great time racing against each other, even if it's at an AX! You know, John, the most interesting thing I heard at the last AX was from a driver who normally finishes at the top of big track driving events. I'm not going to mention any names and I don't think that's necessary for the purposes of this discussion, but he drives a 3.6 liter green 911 and his initials are Jae Lee. Anyway, we were corner working and only about 100 feet apart when Jae said, "Man, this AX is really sending me back to school!" THAT shows the value of AX'ing clearly, doesn't it? AX'ing is not a baby game, or just for beginners, is it? I like to think of AX'ing as this: " AX'ing is road racing, but compressed in time." Think about that. Let's get Mike out there. It'll be a goal that will benefit both of us, no? Let's make it happen. You push from the inside, I'll pull from the outside. TC Quote
mliera Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Sorry I couldn't make this AX. I had a wedding to attend in San Jose. Left Fri. and returned Sun. Spent Mon. cathching up with business. I am skipping another wedding to attend willow springs Sept.5 and 6. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Quote
nkwright Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Timmee, I agree with Jae. I have learned something at the last two DE's myself. "Man, this AX is really sending me back to school!" It's been a few years since I was at the Q. It was a great time and really helped with braking in all of its various forms. Car seemed to be a bit stiff for the track, that's just something you have to adapt to. Wish there were more of the continuous lapping events. Doing a lap and waiting in line is a bit of a bore not to mention the tire pressures & temp issues. Excellent format for beginners and good tune up for veterans! Neal Wright Quote
