Why are posts deleted/edited before a thread is locked?

If a thread is locked, edited or deleted....there must have been a reason to cause a concern for the Moderator to take action on it. Generally if there is something said that is considered not in the best interest of NASA and all of its members and could result in a heated exchange of words...It should be edited and locked or deleted.

Some debates start out good and then get ugly. But if they contain good information...generally the posts that have gotten ugly are modified and the thread gets locked.

If a thread just starts out with or ends with the same rant on a person or NASA and has no actual informational value to others....I would say this is where it gets deleted.

Hope this answers your question....and as always...just my 2 cents and thoughts.
