49 Cars for GTS!

Great news. I certainly would like to see a few of those quicker 944 Cup cars take on a second Championship battle and join in at GTS1. The times have been extremely comparable, even favorable to a couple of folks ( )

Good News Again For GTS, sure hope NASA is paying attention.

Funny thing is, I know 3 cars that are out due to mechanical issues and 1 other (Kristi C) due to another issue. If everybody comes back again next year, 60+ cars in GTS is very possible.

I'll be registering Aug. 29 for GTS-3!! I'm so excited! I will be staying in the RM compound though...I will definitely come by the tent and introduce myself.

I'll be in GTS-4, and will be happy to see some bimmers in the class.

Those damn P-cars...

Waaa! I'm bringing the only VW in the whole event LOL (yeah, yeah, knife to a gun fight and all that )

Unfortunately, I will not be joining the GTS-4 race at Nationals. I lost my exhaust and waterpump at Mid-Ohio in the last race. The crossover pipe sheared off right at the connection flanges! Good luck to everyone in all the GTS classes!

Next year! I finally had a decent weekend with the new beast. I uncovered another minor issue.....my brakes get so hot it melts my outer cv joint boots and the dust boots on both pistons in both calipers. I'm installing some cooling ducts tonight and doing a test and tune at Beaverun this Monday. The other issue was the turbo bolts backing out. I purchased the correct bolts from VW and some Norlock washers, now the car will hold 15 psi boost instead of 10. Hopefully the car will be ready for New jersey in November.

Oh yeah, hey Carl....I've ordered my Hoosiers!

Not a good enough excuse. I have my motor totally torn down to replace 3 bent valves and a weak clutch from the Aug race and John Graber will be back at it after spinning a 944cup rod bearing at the August race.

The mechanical reson has to be really good like "car burnt to the ground" or 'It is stolen" You know. Something that is really hard to come back from.

Come on Marc, thats no excuse. My motor is in pieces from the Aug. Mid-Ohio event. With the help of Hatem Automotive and Autobody Specialists, well and Visa it should be back together and running for Nationals. Now get to work and get it fixed !!!

I don't run GTS but I will be testing at BR on Monday as well. See you there - black and blue Integra (in more ways than 1)

Agreed. My car is also in pieces thanks to Slummit Point. Working feverishly to fix!

1/2 my body is off the car as well... Needed a new bumper necessitating some paintwork all the way around. But now I'll have virgin paint when I show up and Mid-O!

...can't top an engine apart though...

All I'm saying is...last year I arrived at the Nationals with a fresh new paint job, too. Two laps into Friday's qualifying race, it looked like this... If my experience is any guide, bring a hammer and a crow bar in the trailer....

No, bring your brains, not just your balls! This stuff will not be tolerated this year.

****Warning***** Don't be the first one to cause an incident....an example will be made of you.

The past two regional events at Mid Ohio have gone very well. In fact, I didn't have to deal out any 13/13 rulings. I expect this trend to continue as GTS regains it reputation of good, smart, clean racing.

While I'm on my soap box.......This is a gentle reminder to the drivers the faster GTS cars that will be lapping the slower cars. Don't forget that the drivers of the slower cars are always told to race their line so that they are predictable and that the fast cars will make the clean pass. This will be discussed at length in a drivers meeting.

This year I'd like to spend my evenings in the Bier Garten with all of you instead of clean up the days carnage!

I am out. Sheared left front ball joint pin at the worst possible moment during Sunday's qualifying at Pocono South.

I am mostly ok. Car is effectively totaled.

Please everyone, using it as a lesson learned to minimize the risk of anyone else going through this: Replace those pins seasonally and make sure you are running the larger competition grade part.

Have a great time at Nationals! If I can possibly swing it and gather enough "strength" to go without a car to drive, I may try to show up and help out crewing or volunteering if I can....

Thanks for all the support Ed, Scott, Eric and others, but too much travel with the job and too little funds this year. Besides, being my first year in this car, I cannot keep up with you guys in GTS-3 yet, much less Jamie, Ryan and the other GTS-4 drivers. It is still too much in the middle of the GTS-4 Weight/Hp ratio. I need to get at least three to four more seconds out of it at Mid-O to be competitive. I hope to get some tweaks done to it during September and join you guys at Putnam in October. So, keep all your cars together during Nationals and again, good luck to all!

Well, if you do manage to make it out, I promise you'll pass me at least once, perhaps twice

 • 2 weeks later...

Bad news fellas - talked with Olivier the other day and he said the GTS flag is KAPUT. It was starting to show some wear last year and he said this past year it just started falling apart and it cost several hundred dollars to have it made.

Maybe someone can look into getting a reasonable solution and we can get a group buy on say FOUR of them or something??

Anyway, had part of my engine apart this weekend to fix some wicked oil leaks...hope I nabbed at least 30% of them so I'll be at where I was about this time last year.

Hey, it's a 911 with 14quarts of oil, I guess some of it is gonna leak - eh?

Yes, with regards to ball joints, I have had replacements for about a year, went to change them out last week and discovered they were cheap knock-offs, abruptly sent them back to the person who I bought them from and found a decent deal on factory replacements.

I have seen several of these things break, mainly on 944T and 968, with sometimes catastrophic results. While we are busy installing killer shocks, springs, larger brake calipers/rotors...we must keep in mind all that stuff is connected by some KEY suspension points, ball joints being one of them.

Ok, off my ball joint soap box...

I look forward to seeing all of you there! ...and Scott, I STILL have visions of you in my rear view mirror, going up Thunder Alley when you and I believe it was Ed got together and you wound up with some new bodywork. Great to see you got that car looking good again, see you there.
