panozracing Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Well, we all got the news today that NASA will NOT be doing an ST video for the nationals this year. They are only doing certain classes and we are not one!!!!! bummed!!!! There are over 50 drivers in our class....Lets sponser our own. I emailed the guy in charge to ask how much it will cost for Speedcast Productions to do our group. Who is in? I wouldnt mind spending a $100 to get a professionally done video of our group. They say "The productions are broadcast quality and feature commentary and high quality graphics as well as in-car cameras and stationary cameras placed around key points of the Mid Ohio course." I think it would be REALLY COOL! Edited August 28, 2008 by Guest Quote
wallyman424 Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 If its around 100, I'm in. I too was a little bummed by that email. Quote
TexaST-1 Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Damn! I knew I should have built up a Camaro. I don't who or how, but put me in for some cash. Bob Mayer can pick any short fall we have. Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted August 28, 2008 National Staff Posted August 28, 2008 Guys, I think that it would cost close to $100 per driver. However, even if everyone decided to pitch in, I'm not sure that it can get done logistically. The production company only has a certain number of in-car cameras, and with video races both before and after the ST/SU/PTA-B race, it will be tough to get the cameras swapped out in time and stay on schedule. Also, it will be tough to get the commitment and payment from all of the drivers in time to see if this could be done. Now, if there is someone/business/etc. that wants to just step up and offer to sponsor the video for the race, we can check with Ryan and see if we can make it happen. Quote
RAFTRACER Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I'd be in for the $100.00......I bet most people would be.....get on it !!!! NASA ought to get sponsors to pay for the whole thing, not just individual groups ........do all or do none......... Quote
Z06RACER Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 i saw that email as well. We didn't get a video last year either. I'm in for $100 (not covering the short fall though!!) Greg......... can't you send an email to the whole Group D drivers and ask who would be in??? If we get enough response up front, we can committ to the production company and collect the money at our drivers meeting thursday night. As far as in car cameras.....maybe they could use the video from the in car cameras that we already have. I bet most of the guys running have video. We really need to do this. the video of the other groups last year was great. I would hate to miss it again. Quote
panozracing Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 Ok....thats $600 (4 posts plus my brother and I)....I would consider contributing more as longs as we get some response from others! Come on guys....we spend more on fuel then $100 bucks! Greg, did you check with Ryan? I think its a great suggestion that we either collect at the drivers meeting or put it on NASA website now and send a bulk email out about it. We could all submit our in cockpit videos if they cant swap out the pro ones from the previous races because of time. We got to make this happen. The videos are really cool when they are done by professionals. Plus I want to see what everything behind me will look like...hehe Quote

At $100/per car we should easily be able to pull this off. Greg...........please send out an email to judge who would support this. Who do we need to talk to from the video company to arrange this???? I'll call them and talk to them. This oppurtunity comes once per year. Lets not blow it because of apathy!!! I too want to see what all the cars behind me look like (especially that pathetic blue/orange car from Texas ) Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted August 31, 2008 National Staff Posted August 31, 2008 Ok, I sent the e-mail for you guys, but you will have to take the lead on this. Assuming the producer could even get the video made if the money was there, someone will need to step up with the single payment very soon, and then take charge of getting everyone to pay. You guys may want to pitch your company or you own sponsors to join together with a few others to get it done. Here is the pledge list so far. Add you name to the list (copy and paste the list to your reply, and add your name). Willing to pay $100 for a professional video to be done for the Group D race: 1. Brian Goldburg 2. Daniel Goldburg 3. Walead Hessami 4. Kevin Mixon 5. Bob Mayer 6. Danny Popp 7. David Pintaric Quote

panozracing Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Anyone have an idea on how to collect and pay the production company this week? I am sure we will come up with 30 drivers. We arent that far considering all the drivers probably dont come on this forum. Greg can we get the email list to deal with the Group D people direct? If one of use covers the bill and collects the $100 what happens if we get more then 30 people? I guess this is what paypal is designed for???? Quote
David M. Pintaric Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Do we know what the target amount is? Quote

panozracing Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Ok guys. I have read some other groups that are pooling the effort to get this video done. Looks like we have to pay the video company Wed. this week if we are going to get this done. I will charge up the $3-5K to cover the video. Can I get the 10 of you that said you are in to transfer your $100 to my paypal account? I will collect my brothers payment (either now or on the track...hehe)!!!! I would also request that you all help me collect the rest of the money. If we collect more then the required amount I will split that up and give it back to everyone that paid at our drivers meeting next Thurs. Or we could get a $100 from everyone and give the change to the top 3 finishers or something? I hope everyone will back me up and get more people to chip in so I dont get stuck with 3-5K out of pocket. Especially those sneaky ones that think we will just burn them a copy for free later or download it from Nasa..... The only issue I see is how do we keep the production company and Nasa from posting the video on the website/selling DVD's and us initial guys spent $100? I guess I dont really care as long as all I spend is $100 or so..... Thoughts? My paypal account is [email protected] P.S. I posted something in the PT forum telling them to come to this thread.... Members Eric W. Posted September 2, 2008 Members Posted September 2, 2008 Brian and the rest of the ST/PT guys... just a note from reading the GTS forum as well... they seem to only be able to cover the two most represented classes also. For us GTS guys, it is GTS2 and GTS3. For ST/PT group, it looks like ST2 would definitely get coverage, and ST1/PTA would be tied for the other spot. I havent decided if I am going to supersize my entry yet as I need to focus on GTS, but if I do run PTA, you have my commitment for the $100. Quote
Z06RACER Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Brian.......Have you talked to the video company? Have they given you an exact amount? Will they use our in car cameras? If we have 50+ people in the group, this should be a piece of cake. If we put up the money, then don't we own the rights to the video?? Are they going to charge us more to buy a video from them after its complete? panozracing Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 NoI have not spoken to them. I am on it in the morning. I have been talking to Jeremy and Greg via email but just sent Jeremy a new email asking if we can speak on the phone. Depending on hwo that goes I might call the production co. I will post more when I know more. Quote

From GTSForum: "Guys, according to NASA there are 3 cameras available for our rungroup. Due to the # of classes in our race only the 2 classes with the most representatives will receive the majority of coverage. In our case that will be GTS2 and GTS3." We have 5 classes. Here is an example of the Honda Challenge one last year. They focused on HC1 and HC5 http://speedcastprod.vidiac.com/video/eb36176a-2d84-4a35-92a2-99bc009ff947.htm Quote
