Spec-944#70 Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 This happened this weekend at a TCRA event and was validated by TCRA'a transponders. He was so far ahead of the competition they made him do 1 lap in 5th!!! (Talk about handicapping!!) Can't wait to see what he does with some more competition around him. Looks like it's going to get fun!! Quote
PeanutinCA Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 What was the track temps? Surely not 100+ like a couple weeks ago. Or I sure as hell hope not!!!! Quote
Spec-944#70 Posted September 27, 2004 Author Posted September 27, 2004 BTW he did a 1:41 in 5th gear only!!! Very humbling!! Quote
Tim Comeau Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I anticipate high 1:34's by late spring. And not necessarily by me. The temps will be in our favor for a while now, drivers are learning their cars and set ups more. I cut a 1:36.9 during the last POC clinic and Rick cut some 1:35's in a GP car so............it's do-able. Quote
NASA Jim Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Temps make a huge differenct at Big Willow. If you look at the lap records, almost all are in February or November. I bet if we have an early or season ending Willow event next year almost all the records will fall. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I agree as well. Back in febuary I could notice the difference in HP in the morning sessions in the cool air vs the afternoon. My shift point to 5th on the oval track part was 4-5 cars lengths sooner in the AM hrs. Lap times were a wash however since I only pushed it really hard in qualfing and race. Morning practice sessions I took it easy in the corners. Quote

Looks like it's going to get fun!! Good for Dwain. I knew this guy was a great driver. I wish I was there. I had planned to go to that event to try and move into 3rd place in sub 2.2 class, but my crew chief bailed out on me and I did not go. Man, do I regert it now. I had my Hoosiers heat cycled and ready to go. I know I could have broken into the 1:36s. I feel like an idiot for not going. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 With Hoosiers on, you should be doing around 1:32's!! Quote
