Recommended Posts

First event of season and it is open now for sign up for friday test and tune and weekend race.

I just signed up. Also booked a room at lodge and a garage. For others who haven't been here before definetly call VIR and reserve or book rooms soon.

Be aware the race groups fill up and they will close at some point before the event as they do most years.

In otherwords dont wait and sign up soon.

Would be great to have 25-30 cars in thunder be AI and AIX.

PhilsTireService will be at this event for trackside support. We will also be there for the test day..

I'll be signing up.

I am skipping the February for this one with the hope that the car count is higher for the March event due to the folks traveling down from other regions.

How many folks have committed to come down for the event?

Posted

Too early clearly for a car count but judging by talking to folks and emails would expect 15 cars on the light end and maybe 25-30 on the high end.

Normally 8 cars or so anyway so we may be north of 20 cars easily.

Expect a big fun event

Already 5 out of region racers signed up. Get signed up folks, don't wait and watch it close and miss the fun with a huge AI field.

Roster as of 2/9/09 shows:

Robin Burnett (AI)

Chris DeSalvo (AI)

Rusty Ferguson (AI)

Aaron Bambach (AI)

Frank Corkran (AI)

Chris Durbin (AI)

Sounds like a good battle so far...

Awesome Chris! Maybe you guys can lay down the ground work for additional sponsors in other regions and do a "lessons learned" for the rest of us on how to do the same.

Step 1: Bring a large car count.

Step 2: See step 1 and repeat.

Step 3: Offer product visibility to potential customers.

Well, when your region discourages HPDE entrants from even showing up...I guess step one is a big hurdle....

Almost under 30 days till event.

Get signed up soon.

Big announcement set for March 1st about inter league pride battle also.

Little hint, you want at least three folks from your region in the season race.

I'm in, even with my underpowered 20 year old beater car.

Also, I am assuming that since this is the 2nd event for the Mid Atlantic region that the RA1's are still perfectly legal to run as was announced by JWL a while back.

Correct.

Yes.

In fact several regions are carryin till mid year.

That is just the national minimum.

However, I am working to test the R888's on friday at VIR so we shall see whatb all the hype is really about

So who thunk'd this mess up? I have RA1's to last an entire season left over... Is this a "hush hush" thing amongst the regional competitors? If so, I guess I need to make an event already!

Uh, which regions are carrying the RA-1 until mid-year? Not OK and not approved, so don't count on that.

Oh, here we go again. Another Texas guy shooting his mouth off. When will you guys ever learn that the internet is a PUBLIC forum. By public, I mean everyone, including TOYO.

I am pretty sure DeSalvo let the cat out the bag....it just seems those of us here in TX that follow the letter of the written rules and releases always find out last that we didn't have to follow the rules... don't put that crap on me for asking a question about a PUBLIC statement that contradicts what we "officially" receive from our directors. If there are more "under the table" debacles out there folks need to do a better job not letting them go public....cough: e-cams in CMC since 2006...cough.

2006? More like 1996 from what some old timers in Cali tell me.

My comment is based on the obvious guys. Not all seasons start in January nationally.

Several divisions first event isn't till April so 2nd event is May which is mid year or season well under way for most of us. Now for some of us we need to be on R888's in April as that would be 3rd event.

Look at everyone trying to cause trouble.

Personally I just ordered my set of new R888's and will be testing them and likely running them at our first east coast event in March.

Once I discover they are faster watch how everyone would rush to get them.
