Weston Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Does anyone know of any good deals on bullet cameras suitable for motorsports use? Is Ray from the Midwest still selling some for around $100? I already have a HD camera for in-car, but am looking for a couple of relatively inexpensive, but durable, bullet cameras to mount in more interesting locations. The ChaseCam that I had broke at the start of the 2008 season (it was 4 years old, so it had a good run), and the eBay one I bought last year broke the first time I tried to mount it on the car. itarin Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Have you looked at the GoPro Hero line...You can stick it...um...you can place the camera anywhere it comes with adhesive and suction cup mounts. I took one to an HPDE and it saw more track time than I did. Everyone borrowed it. Quote
rfreundt Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Weston, Yes I still have them for sale how many do you want? And how many TVL's do you want the cameras to have. I have 380, 420 and some very expensive 520 TVL cameras. Quote

I haven't seen a real sample of the GoPro's video quality though... all I can seem to find are still pictures or video that has been compressed for showing on the Internet, not the actual AVI file that comes from the camera. I know it's 512x384, which is less than most others, but I also know that a good sharp 512x384 picture could be better than the so-called "640x480" I've seen come from some other digital camcorders. For now, I'll probably be going with bullet cameras, since I already have recorders and good ChaseCam mounts for two of them, plus the race car is wired to power them. If they're still around $100, I'd go for two 420's. If not, let me know what the current prices are, and I'll figure something out. Thanks! Quote
Cheap_Thrills Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 For $99 at Costco, I bought the Epic Sports cam. Records to SD card, 2Gig included. Records over an hour, longer if you use lithium batteries. Not the quality of a GoPro, but you can stick it anywhere. I haven't been to the track with it yet, but I leave it mounted on my work truck windshield to catch people like this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvoe_J4Jf0E Quote
