Tim Comeau Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Let's remember to use and thank those businesses that have supported our series this year. Thank them when things go well and give them feedback when things don't go so well so that we can continue to grow our relationships with them. They help make our racing affordable, right?! 1. PARAGON PRODUCTS HAS A KILLER SUSPENSION PACKAGE DEAL FOR US AS WELL AS MANY OTHER GREAT RACING ITEMS. 2. SSF IMPORTED AUTOPARTS HAS A GREAT INVENTORY OF PARTS FOR YOUR SHOP TO BUY FROM. THIS IS WHERE OUR FUN DOOR PRIZES COME FROM. 3. AUTOBAHN PARTS.COM. SEAN AND JOHN GET US GOOD USED PARTS FROM DONOR 944 PARTS CARS. 4. TOYO MAKES OUR TIRES AFFORDABLE, GIVES US RACE WINNING TIRE BUCKS, AND CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING BUCKS. Cheers and thanks to these businesses! Let's do it again in 2005 Quote
Tim Comeau Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 I have new stickers from SSF IMPORTED AUTO PARTS. Black's and white's. I'll bring them to the next few events. They've been good to us! Quote
Tim Comeau Posted October 25, 2004 Author Posted October 25, 2004 I've got a great spot for the new SSF decals. Right at the base of the windshield. The driver can't see them there, they're pretty visible to people walking by, and they're VERY visible to the mech when he's working on your car and has to place a parts order. Who you gonna call? Spec-944#70 Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 Tim bring me a "White" TOYO decal. I had to take the one off my headlight to remove the clear vinyl that was under it as it got thrashed over the year. I'm cleaning up my car for a car show Friday at my wifes High School. It's fun to go there with all the ricers and LOUD stereo's. They all ask what it'll do in the 1/4? I tell them about 100MPH and they say so what!! Then I tell them I don't have to slow down to make the turn home!! Slot cars baby!!! That's what I'm talking about Now if I can just get Bernheims Umbrella girls to show up I'd me the mac daddy on campus!! Yeah! High School girls are COOL! I know I'm a dirty old man. At least that's what my wife says. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted October 25, 2004 Author Posted October 25, 2004 Will do. I almost always have my graphics kit with me, which includes all the series decals. BTW, you guys don't have to wear the optional decals. I've really relaxed my stance on that because of driver input. I hear you. But it really helps the whole class when we support our sponsors and there are some decals you have to wear for contingency $$. Like TOYO TIRES. Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 They all ask what it'll do in the 1/4? I tell them about 100MPH and they say so what!! These cars will do a 100 in the 1/4? Eric you may be overstating the speed of these little bad boys. Hey stock 944 Turbo's can't get to 100 in the 1/4 (14-15 sec at 97) and they easily pull us down the straights. I think on good day we might be able to break 90. Quote
Spec-944#70 Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 I know it was more in response to the 1/4 mile thing!! Cars must turn eventually!! Quote
topley Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 1. PARAGON PRODUCTS HAS A KILLER SUSPENSION PACKAGE DEAL FOR US AS WELL AS MANY OTHER GREAT RACING ITEMS. Here's a question about this... While I am thinking about turning my car into a 944 spec racer, I'm planning to do lots of DE's and time trials (the POC STS event was fantastic!.) Any upgrades that I do I want to make sure that I don't have to re-do to make the spec class. Is there a full spec suspension "kit" that paragon sells? I couldn't find anything on their web page. Quote
Tim Comeau Posted November 16, 2004 Author Posted November 16, 2004 Jay, You won't find anything on their website about the deal. It was worked out between myself and PARAGON PRODUCTS exclusively for us 944-spec guys. In fact, you have to have me call them first so that they know you are actually building a spec car because this deal isn't for the general public. You get your choice of shocks, springs/torsion bars, plus Weltmeister anti-sway bars. The front springs/shocks come with a ride height adjustable kit. The cost is right about $1550.00 and you have to buy the whole package. Most guys add adjustable camber plates and suspension bushings to the deal. You need to tell them the year or type of suspension you have. If you already know the 944 will become a spec car, my advice is that you build it up as a spec car and start getting familiar with it now. That's worth alot. Quote

One place to start is my website (in my sig) I have a list of things I did to my 944 to make it into a spec car. Suspension is included. Rules are linked there too. Anyway I will not say it is THE hot setup, but is good place to start. You may need to make adjusments to suit your driving style. Quote
topley Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Cool. I'm going to see what I can get and stay GI classified for POC. Planning on doing the short track and time trial stuff as the start of my learning curve. I'm not ready to gut my interior... my car still lives on the street. Getting rid of my other car and picking up something that can trade garage places plus the ability to tow might change everything... (loved that tow bar setup that bolted onto the bumper mounts... don't have room for a trailer anyway.) Thanks! -jay Quote
Tim Comeau Posted November 18, 2004 Author Posted November 18, 2004 Jay, It was great to have you at the Streets! We had 12 cars......I'd like to see the pics. You can drive your car to events like I do. No tow vehicle needed. I don't have much room either. I have to put my red 944 on my trailer and in the garage, the black and white 924S lives on the street. Keep the interior in place if you want. (To stay in GI in the POC.) You can race heavy and still be in class. You wouldn't believe how much better it will handle with the suspension package. , which you could also do in stages for affordability. S'up to you. Quote
