timn Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 What enduro class does a BMW 318 fall into? I would guess E3 but I'm not sure. Quote
ianacole Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 What year? Any mods? What's its base PT class? Quote
timn Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 The car is a 93, E36 sedan. No mods yet. I haven't even picked it up (Tuesday). I have no idea what the base PT class is for the car and I am not sure where to look. Quote
timn Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 I found the base PT class. It falls into PTG. Quote
ianacole Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Edit: You beat me to it Found on page 7 of the Performance Touring rules (found here: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/Performance-Touring-Rules.pdf), your car's base class is: BMW 318 (E36)('92-'98)(1.8L & 1.9L) PTG** 2933 **denotes a 14 point initial assessment that is added to the total number of modification points to determine the final competition class. According to the Enduro supplement (found here: http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/enduro.pdf), there is no direct mapping of PTG to an enduro class. However, PTE and PTF map to E2, so I would surmise PTG would map to E3, if the class is run in your region. However, an email to the National Office would provide an official ruling. Quote
timn Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks for the help. Hope to see you on the track soon. Quote
National Staff Greg G. Posted March 16, 2009 National Staff Posted March 16, 2009 First, PTG is not a competition class, it is only a base class--there is no competition in PTG. Second, unless you will be running a completely stock car on street tires, the car won't end up in PTG anyway. You competition PT class will depend on the modifications done to the vehicle. So, if you are looking to build an E3 car, you might want to see if it will meet the rules for BMWCCA LS or MS classes. Quote
Steven Ferrario Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hey Timn, We ran a 91 318ti at the 3hr. enduro last year at BW. We ran in E2. We plan to race again this year...Come on out, it was a great time. Quote
Tim N Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Hey Steven, That would be great. I haven't been able to find much for the 4 cyl. bimmers and I would like to pick your brain. Thanks and talk to you soon. Tim Quote
