deadeyeb Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 when signing up for a class do you always start with hpde1. I'm hoping to get into 944 spec and am looking to get my comp licence. I was tinking of taking a class at skip barber intro into racing would that count at least toward an hpde class as my 944 is not ready at this point. do i have to use my 944 for hpde because that would mean I would have to put a pass. seat in . I have a 94 golf that I could use for hpde then bring the 944 for comp class . thanks for any help. Quote
rfreundt Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hello Fred, And welcome aboard. I do not know how NASA would view the schooling for that you would have to talk to them. I would imagine it would certainly count for something. Having your 944 ready for HPDE is not nessary you could use a street car to go through all levels of HPDE. You just need a race ready car for comp school. If you need any help or have questions post up dont be shy. We are in the building process of our 4th car now and it is not as difficult as it seems. If you need engine or tranny help contact Nick Miller at http://www.benms.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Take care have fun and welcome to the addiction Quote
Sterling Doc Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Contact your local NASA regional director (should be a link on the NASA website), and send him your "resume" of driving experience. He can then assist in getting you into the right right HPDE class. Good luck with your 944 Spec car - you are going to have a blast, and check in here, or at 944Spec.org with any questions. Several build journals are on line to help give you information on the build process as well. I would also second the recommendation of Nick at Bennington Motorsports for any motor, transmission work, or for new 944 parts - he has proven to be very cost-effective & helpful. John at "A Part Above" is a great resource for used 944 parts, and is also a series sponsor. Quote
