These numbers are stamped on the piston tops and on the top of the block. Quote
Sterling Doc Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Good deal! John (runs A part Above) is a new 944 Spec Midwest sponsor as well! Quote
APartAbove Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 If you do buy does that include pistons? If not make sure you match the tolerance groups 0, 1 or rarely 2. These numbers are stamped on the piston tops and on the top of the block. In this case the pistons are going with the block. I sold the whole short block of this engine. Other times it's just the block, girdle, balance shafts/covers with all the nuts/bolts for the girdle. All depends on how motivated I am on any given day. Thanks guys. Tim Comeau Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Fred, Sounds like a good deal, but I'd first make sure you actually need a new block. I've seen some pretty good scoring that I thought would be the end of a block, but the machine shop told me it shouldn't be a problem! Quote
deadeyeb Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 pulled pistons found bent rod and scortched piston on #4 . block is going into hibernation right know . are all rod journals crossed drilled on these blocks? how about the mains? talking with john at apart above for a short block. thanks for the replies Quote
944-Spec#94 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Fred, it seems that some 83 and 84 engines got cross drilled rods. Most years did not. You are lucky with that crank. As for the bend rod. Yeah that will cause a cylinder wall to be damaged. It is rare, but does happen from time to time. Quote
