Help mounting seat lower

Recommended Posts

Ok guys I just picked up a new toy last weekend and I'm having a problem with my head being too close to the forward hoop (it was a SSB car a few years ago). I see that in NASA's rule book under 15.16 I can mount the seat mounts directly to the floor if I add a plate. But it still looks like I may have a problem by like 1/4 inch. So can I remove the old welded in bracket and massage the floor pan as needed, weld in the plates and thru bolt the side mounts thru the plate and floor?

Here are some pics of the mounts set up as it is today

And here is why its all a problem (that and and the fact I'm 6'2")

Do you have a race tech seat?

If so that is probably part of the problem.

The seat, in the way it is designed, struggles to be mounted low. Part of the problem is that there is almost no lay back in the seat, and the other is that the bottom part is very thick.

Can you get the bottom of the seat to touch the floor pan? if so the seat still to high? Have you add any lay back into the seat (ie mounting the front mount as high as possible and the rear as low as possible)?
