Buttonwillow Videos

Does anyone have any videos of Buttonwillow (Track #1 with Star Mazda) suitable for helping to learn the track. I'm heading to the Club Race there this month and it will be my first time at that track. (Trying to get whatever advantage I can !)

Thanks

Hey Jerry,

I'm going there on 6/6 for a DE with another club, my 1st time too. I'll be doing my licensing thing there in the fall, so I wanted to be a little familiar.

I think this is the Star Mazda config: Comeau vs Foxx at Buttonwillow Nov 2008

From what I have been told there are plenty of spots available. You do have to be a PCA member.

I will be there to instruct and run in the Red group on Friday and then off to WSIR for a NASA race.

If you can make we could use the entries.

I am planning on being at Willow Springs.

If Charlie is getting in a secret practice day on Friday, I will be forced to protest his car for something or other at Willow. I am going to work on a trumped up reason with my protest mentor, Tim Comeau, right away.

My app is in to Jim already and I'm planning for it. If you have time (I didn't ask for an Instructor as I only have one seat) I'd love whatever time you can spare for a newbie at Buttonwillow

Jerry are you in the Red group?

I am instructing that day but my free time is in the red group. We can do some lead follow and discuss certain sections of track you are having problems with.

Hi Jerry, I just looked at the participant list and did not see your name. My list is about a week old. Maybe give them a call to make sure they got your info.

Just want to say thanks to Charlie for the lead-follow session we did. That really made the difference in learning the track together with the videos. Nick and I had a good race on Sat and a Fantastic one on Sunday that had the viewing stand packed. Nick out qualified me (2.23 to 2.28) and we were staged behind the SPBOX cars. I managed to get in front of him on the start and held him off for 15 mins but then he got me under braking at the end of the front straight. He then led for 2 or 3 laps until I was able to use some traffic entering Star Mazda and retook the lead. He had the speed in Nascar and the front straight and I was faster through the turn 2/3 Complex and I think the S'es so we had a great battle. Unfortunatly he had a fueling problem in the closing laps allowing me to take my 1st 1st place ! We had numerous PCA folks coming up to say of all that was out there (Everything from Cup Cars to us lowly SP1 cars) the race that had the stands packed was ours !

Thanks everyone for the help.

That's fantastic Jerry!!!!

I was happy to help and glad you were able to convert your new talents into a win.

It was great to meet you. I will be coming to the Infineon event next month so maybe I will see you there.
