I bought a new track car and it has graphics and stripes on it. They are all stickers. I'd like take them off and have my own made.Anybody got any tips for removing these easily without ruining the paint?

Thanks Leebo

Hair dryer to heat them up briefly, then just pull them off. Use some acetone to remove the residue left by the glue.

I've got a heat gun. Could that be too much?

No, it wouldn't be but you only need to apply heat for a second or two if that. Any more than that you are gonna make a mess and you will be hurting your work not helping it. I mean, just hit a spot with the heat for a millisecond and pull it off. Vinyl can be brittle too, just be patient and it will come right off.

thanks for the tips, when the graphics are off do you recommend someone to make some new ones.Does Nasa have a sponsor for this? I live close to Greensboro NC but I quess that doesn't really matter.

NASA doesn't have a graphics sponsor but I do.

Coastal Graphics out of Eastern, NC can do almost anything you would need with the exception of wraps.

My car:

a NASCAR Late Model he just did:

I can get you his contact info if you like, he is VERY reasonably priced.

they also make plastic razor blades that come in handy for this kinda job...eraser wheels can help with excessive glue/tape residue

Actually NASA does have an official Graphics Sponsor: http://www.ratracinggraphics.com/

Also...don't use a razorblade. You'll end up scratching the paint.

Be very careful if you use a heat gun as they get very hot. Just swipe your wife's old hairdryer...they work fine. Use a plastic scrapper or your fingernail to get under the vinyl. WD40, acetone, Acryliclean, Goofoff, etc. will all take the goo off.

Been there...done that.

Thanks, I used a heat gun very gentle and a plastic scraper. Once i got them started they peeled right off.Used Acetone to get the glue remnants off and then waxed the area. You can't tell they where ever there. I'll check out the sponsor and make the car and original.

thanks again Lee
