Cobra4B
I've been running 4-6 HPDEs a year since 2002 and have been to the Panoz Racing school at RA bacin in '03. I typically run in the advanced groups at any event I go to and would like to progress to TT and eventually ST2. Would my past experience allow me to be signed off for TT or do I need to do something else to verify my ability/experience? Thank you, Brian Bowers
jason
From what I've seen/heard/made up as I went along: Sign up for HPDE3/4, detailing all your experience in the space provided. You'll probably get an email or phone call from your registrar asking for more detail in order to sign up for the higher classes. I think there is even a space for comments on the online registration form, if so put in there that you would like a TT check ride. Contact your regional TT director before the event, go over your past experience, the car etc. If they're happy with all that, you should be able to arrange a checkride sometime during the weekend. That's just kinda a general outline, every region is probably a little different, but that should get you going in the right direction. vpnwiz
It is very region dependent. Some regions do HPDE 3 as the top non-competition group and save 4 for instructors only, while others share TT and HPDE 4. If you are comfortable in traffic then just sign up, it sounds like your experience is there. And if your region does 4/TT it's a great way to try it out without needing a TT license. You will need a transponder to run in that group. Patrick

National Staff Greg G. Posted May 16, 2009 National Staff Share Posted May 16, 2009 If you are going to register for a Mid-Atlantic region event, you definitely want to contact Jon Felton, the TT Regional Director ahead of time.

I did 350 miles on track last year w/ them, and I left mid-way through sun. Ran out of rotors
